Footman James Breakdown Cover

Hi,

just insured my car with Footman James and it came with free breakdown cover.  I am picking my first westy up on Thursday night and as Its a 3 hour journey back was going to get AA relay cover.

Has anyone ever used the footman James breakdown service, is it any good? or should I still get AA?

I think Footman would contract out to whoever is nearest to you in the event of breakdown . The service you get should be every bit as good as AA or RAC in my opinion .

Not much point paying out for double cover .

Did a great job for me too a few years back when I put BP Ultimate Diesel into my Westfield on the way back from Le Mans  

They turned up with a special low loader normally used for transporting cars with low noses (Fezzas and suchlike), took the car 50 miles home for me, job done.

Have just used them myself and provided a very good service for the breakdown/recovery. Not sure about the accident line though took me about 3 hours to get through.

I used the J recovery service a couple of weeks ago when the fuel pump packed up. Took me from Dartford to Cambridge, no problems .

Got to be worth the extra few £'s.

Yep Got to say they were pretty good when my alternator failed on the V8 in 2006 I rang the contact number and they were there in 20mins one sunday morning, Altho' I haven't yet tested their european cover. As previously mentioned they use local breakdown companies close to your location then take you home. They generally won't do road side repair like the AA/RAC they just put it on the back of a lo-loader and away you goes.

Used them last week, took an hour and a half to get to me but other than that very good service - except the young lady telephonist didn't know what a kit car or 7 style car was! She was happy once I said it was yellow!

Looks like its worth the extra few quid then - especially as AA want £70 for relay.

Picked her up last night, froze my b@lls off and deafened myself, lights went halfway home and I nearly ran out of petrol.  But what a car.......   got home at quarter past midnight and was still grinning when I got up this morning (to sort the lights).

Wait till you get to 15
