just put an advert on piston heads and was charged £7 not a lot of money but I'm thinking some of the more bizarre stuff you see on there may now be a thing of the past now its not free  ???

what do you think ..???

Pistonheads is owned by Haymarket publishing - its a commercial business venture and that's what happens, when folks run a business  ;)  ;)  ;)

Please don't confuse it with a friendly club free forum  :D  :D  ;)

Put my car on Piston Heads, don't have a problem with £7, think it is good value. Probably more to put it on ebay!

it is free for anyone who was a member before they changed the system - which was only a few weeks ago.

and ditto what Mark said, it's a commercial thing nowadays.

the point I'm making is not the fact you now have to pay £7 for a car you think will sell in 30 days as after that I think you may have to pay again .

It's all the bizarre stuff you see on there that may never sell but you enjoy looking at anyway  :t-up:

my point was will piston heads now just become auto trader the second  ???  :suspect:

I thought all classifieds where free unless you do a premium ad which is chargeable unless allready a member.

We have just launched a new classified system featuring two levels of advert, standard adverts and premium adverts.

Premium adverts cost £7 and feature 9 pictures and placement at the top of the listings.

Standard adverts are free, but are placed after all the premium and dealer adverts in the listings.

In addition to the two categories, we also still have some old adverts on the site which were submitted before new system went live on the 3rd of July. These adverts are being treated as premium adverts until they expire (which will be within the month).

All of this means that if you have recently submitted a standard advert then it is likely to appear several pages back in the listings, especially in a busy category which still contains a lot of old system adverts. As the old adverts expire this will balance out, but in the mean time your advert can be easily found by using either the advanced search or filter tools. Alternatively, you can upgrade your advert for just £7 which will allow you to add 6 more pictures and will bump your advert right to the top of the list.

Sold my last two cars through PH with no problems or canvassers which is better than Autotrader, where you get charged a fair bit then get several calls a day from telesales and get all the tyre kicker morons ringing. Had a polo GTi listed in both, had a woman from Kent after it and a guy from Edinburgh who came down and bought it. Through PH. Autotrader got me a late night call from some youth who wondered if i would sell him the leather interior,

The classifieds need thinning down a bit though especially some of the chav boxes that keep appearing. ;)
