betarev3 Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Hi, My seals are leaking in my standard westfield tandem master cylinder. I went to a local girling supplier who told me it was an obsolete part and seals are no longer available. I rang Westfield, they cannot get seals but will sell me a new cylinder at £110. I asked if It was possible to contact the supplier to see if a kit was available. The man in the stores said no! So helpful (I am still awaiting answers to emails I sent over 1 month ago with reference to the name of the colour for a dark green westfield 1995 vintage.) As a few minor blemishes require painting. Enough of the rant. Can anyone help me with a part number or reference to where I might get the seals from. regards Gary Quote
Norman Verona Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Try Questmead in Rochdale, google for the phone number Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 not sure but I think these things are now unobtainable on a diy basis , all down to the good old h&s movement Quote
Mobsy Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 You could also try Brakes International 01706 666999, they're in Rochdale too. If you can't get a kit I've got a brand new tandem cylinder you can have for £50 + postage. Came with my chassis kit but I've fitted floor mounted pedals with separate cylinders. Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 (I am still awaiting answers to emails I sent over 1 month ago with reference to the name of the colour for a dark green westfield 1995 vintage.) regarding the above It will be either british racing green or westfield racing green , which is a very dark green . Westfields are not painted , the grp panels are laminated with a gel coat surface which is pigmented with color to protect the glass fibre from water ingress and UV damage etc. small areas are easy enough to repair with the correct gelcoat , larger areas can be a problem and need a specialist or can be painted over "if" you can find a paint to match, halfrauds and others have color charts to help choose the correct spray can for DIY. Vinny's Westie Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 For a guaranteed part try www.nelsonstokes.com/, if unusual you may have to send the old parts, but they stock everything and the parts are incredibly cheap, the postage (£5) and VAT will be the most expensive part. Do parts for everything and I mean everything. Quote
gordonandmaureen Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 re seals for master cyl ring B.G. Developments 01527873716 with the pt No on the unit Quote
Blatman Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 And the standard Westfield master cylinder is also common to Morgans, so a trawl around a Morgan parts supplier might well be worthwhile if Questmead or Brakes International can't help... Quote
betarev3 Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 thanks for all the info, I have been ringing around, company called power track stock the repair kits for the tandem brake master cylinder, and as stated it is a current morgan part. The master cylinder is also still listed available as a westfield part. Quote
