Have posted this before but god some more problems

I Have looked high and low for one and have come to the conclusion that there are none to be had.

The exception is one for bikes that uses speed and rpm to calculate the gear, people have said its not too accurate.

The one I have has 2 micro switches and before it packed in was superb.

Has anyone got a diagram on how to make one? (I figure ill make some, cant be that expansive)

Or who sells them? Westfield no longer sell them

Sorry to go on about it but I like the gear indicator ;)

If you ask me... your best bet is to get someone who knows a bit about electronics to have a look at it.

Theres not a lot to it, it's likely to just be a dry joint or something.

Cheers,

Al.

Yeh this is my second plan. to pull it out and have m]y electrician look at it.  He did have a quick once over, checked all the connections and it was fine, he seems to think its been spiked, as a loose connection elsewhere was causing the electrics to the dash to flicker, this we fixed but the indicator stayed on 8, so we think something has poped inside (well we would think this but it occasionally comes back on line after a LONG run, turn the engine off and it resets to N)

Very weird

it will be pretty simple counter with one microswitch shifting to up and another shifting to down. The neutral indicator from the bilke box will reset the position if it gets out of sequence and also to allow it to display an N.

If I was going to design one it would based on a small microcontroller like a PIC16C84 which would allow you to record position without power.

Get yours fixed it will be should be pretty easy to trace the circuit....
