does anyone have experience of running a DTA ECU with a hyabusa. I am mechanically stupid so my megabusa is being looked at by colin denyer motorsport. I have had starting problems recently and also the engine cutting out at about 6000 rpm.

colin has been in touch with DTA and they say there are issues with the DTA working with a hyabusa. They say it is something to do with the Crankshaft trigger disc (whatever that is!). What I dont understand is that the problem has only developed recently.

can anyone shed some light

thanks

Detail is *very* important. We would need much more info before venturing an opinion.

I think DTA were refering to the number of teeth on the dics saying that the earlier hayabusas had 14 or 16 teeth and that would not work with a DTA ecu. For the DTA to be able to work correctly you would need 36 teeth. I am sorry I cant be a little bit more specific, but my knowledge is rather poor.

Basically it is a starting problem, when trying to start there is a lot of popping and backfiring as is if running on a rich carb, but i have ecu and throttle bodies. Have checked leads, changed plugs and fuel is getting to all four injectors. It has therefore got to be the ecu, but DTA are rather stumped. I have sent ecu to DTA and they have given it a clean bill of health and also when lap top plugged in when ecu installed in the car, all the sensors are working fine.

Any ideas what else would cause a cold starting problem if i have got a spark and fuel?

Popping and backfiring is more commonly a symptom of a weak mixture, as opposed to rich. This being the case, it might be prudent to check fuel supply, pressure etc... :t-up:

That was a good example of my lack of all things mechanical! Thanks, will look in to the pressure and supply.
