Jacking points and axle stands

Sorry another newbie question (won't be my last)

Can you tell me where the best place is to jack my Westfield up from? Is it just the chassis rails - they look a bit too thin on their own  ???

I want to get it up to look/do stuff underneath it but not sure where to jack it up from.

It's a 1999 Sei widebody with a 2.0 Ltr Zetec engine.

Thanks in advance

Pick the bones out of this lot.

There's an FAQ too ;)

Under the chassis side members at a point where there is a vertical chassis member, so the load is spread and you minimise the twisting effect on the chassis. If you want the front right up off the ground then do as above on one side and pop an axle stand on the other side. Then you can put a piece of 2"x2" timber, slightly wider than the chassis under the cross-member just in front of the engine, jack up to the desired height with the jack in the middle, and then pop axle stands under each end of the piece of timber. Completely stable and no twisting loads on the chassis.

At the back I personally favour jacking up the car with a trolley jack under the centre of the diff., and then put axle stands under the chassis rails, again as previously said under a bottom wishbone mounting point. That's with independant rear suspension set up. with a live axle just put the axle stands under the axle itself.

In all cases, use a piece of scrap wood on top of axle stands and trolley jack, to avoid damaging the powder coating.

Many thanks guys, that's a great help. I did try to use the search but realised I did not put the right criteria in the search.

Will tackle it at the weekend.
