CedricTheBrave Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 2004!!! I wonder how much that has cost us tax payers surely at 73 years old he ************** it goes on Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Of course it's crazy. However, do you really think it'll change with the Goverment? The root cause is highly paid jobs dreaming up and administering this nonsense. Bit like asking Turkeys to vote for Christmas if you think it'll ever stop. We have the same nonsense in France. Only difference no one takes any notice and common sense rules. Quote
Boomy Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 This sort of thing explains why we had ladder training when I worked at News International on the printing presses. The ladders were only about 2 feet high, more of a step up really, just so you could push a chain which fed paper through the press. Most could do this without a ladder of course, but you were not supposed to stretch *sigh* I am very suprised to see this 73 year old awarded compensation when he had been trained and told what not to do though. How does that work? What do employers need to do now to stop someone picking up a better retirement package...oops, I mean compensation? They could always employ younger people who are more likely to keep their balance for a start. Quote
neilb Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 So he stands on the top of a stepladder which he has admitted he has been told not not to do and the judge says it the employers fault Quote
brianm Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 They probably hadn't written STOP on the top rung Quote
samcooke Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 QUOTE This just sums up whats wrong with this, f**king country Indeed it does. People who want something for nothing and refuse to take any responsibility for their actions. Quote
Martin Keene Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 So he hadn't been shown how to use a step ladder by his employer? Why do I find it *very* hard to believe that he has never used a stepladder before at 73 years of age... IMO, it is not the Government that is to blame in cases like this, it is the judges. If I was and judge and that case before me it would be so easy. 'So, Mr. I'm On Take Care-Taker, have you ever used a step ladder before in your private life. 'Yes' 'Well, f##k off then you free-loader...' Cnuts... :bangeshead: Quote
pistonbroke Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 You have to laugh What do you expect , the countries run by academic nitwits who have never lived in the real world. Quote
Asterix Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 agreed, saw that yesterday and thought the same. Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 And at 8 years past retirement age he was probably still working to supplement his inadequate pension and thought of a get quiick rich scheme Quote
James Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I would love to have a chat with the judge!!!!| bunch of over paid free loading barstards if you ask me, none of them have any common sense what so ever...... And were all suprised that the country's turned to rat s**t? Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Of course, we are making the classic mistake of taking a press report as being accurate. Quote
Asterix Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Of course, we are making the classic mistake of taking a press report as being accurate. "We" is taking it a bit far m8e. Personally Norm, I'm taking a press report with the same pinch of salt as I always do, as I'm sure most of the other posters are. It's not April 1st, there's no current H&S hysteria, no significant reason to disbelieve what is written (other than the normal tendency to expand the truth to it's upper limits). Unless you *know* different, that is. This is sadly believable afaict, "P**s" and "boil" as the big man said. Quote
