I'm off to Colerne for a trackday this weekend - but how do you get there? I'm heading from Bristol, but arriving on the wrong side of the airfield could mean a hefty delay and multimap isn't very good at giving directions to RAF base entry points.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,

Roger

When I went (great little track actually especially for Westies  :t-up: ) we had to go in via Crash Gate 2:

DIRECTIONS

Directions to Colerne Airfield:

From M4 J17 On A429, follow Brown Flag Signs for Castle Combe, but stay on A420 for Bristol East after Yatton Keynell/Castle Combe turning until the village of Ford where there is a left turn as you enter the village signposted ?Colerne, unsuitable for heavy traffic? continue down this road, through the Colerne Village signs until you reach the pub on the right hand side and the Air Traffic Control Tower, where sharp right up behind the buildings to Crash Gate 2

From M4 J18 Follow Brown Flag Signs for Castle Combe, onto A420 for Chippenham until the village of Ford where there is a right turn, signposted ?Colerne, unsuitable for heavy traffic? continue down this road, through the Colerne Village signs until you reach the pub on the right hand side and the Air Traffic Control Tower, where sharp right up behind the buildings to Crash Gate 2.

From Bath Follow signs to Batheaston and take the unclassified road signposted North End, climb hill and follow road round to the Air Traffic Control Tower Colerne, where take left into the lane behind the buildings to Crash Gate 2

Hope this helps  :t-up:

From J18 of M4 (Bath)

Take A46 towards Bath. Go straight over roundabout with A420 staying on the A46 and past Cold Ashton/Upper Swanswick etc.

Go to the end of the A46 and this will take you to a large roundabout and traffic lights. Take 2nd exit following signs to Chippenham A4.

A4 Dual carriageway, caution 50mph limit and speed camera.

At roundabout, take 1st exit to Batheaston/North End/Colerne. Note 30mph speed limit in village.

At mini roundabout take 3rd exit (hard right) towards Colerne.

Steep hill for 2 miles and narrow - follow road ahead.

Pass sign to Box on right.

You will come to a sign that says Ford/Colerne which would follow the road to the right. Instead turn off this road to left, which is almost straight ahead signed to Shoe.

You are now outside of the airfield.

You will pass on your left Sabis International School, keep following road ahead.

Take the first tuning on right into Colerne Airfield (which is Crash Gate 4) – if you go further than this you will come to various Aircraft Hangars – turn around and go back!

Went there when my other half was doing a motor bike day and the entrance was up the short track labelled with the arrow:

Cheers chaps. The weather is looking touch and go (as Westie owners I am sure you all have the same faith in forecasting as I do  :arse: ) but if I get the bullet cam rigged up - I'll try and upload some footage.

Cheers
