Jeff2 Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Hi Car completed this year, passed SVA etc. Browsing through various threads here and picked up odd comments about fuel hose clips - not to use jubilee clips. I have used stainless steel jubilee clips, which were supplied by WF, but not stated specifically for fuel hoses. However, they didn't supply any other type so I wasn't presented with a choice - anyway, that's my excuse for fitting the jubilee clips. The question is: do I need to change the clips to something else and if so, can anyone recommend a suitable clip. Regards Jeff Quote
stu999 Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Nowt wrong with jubilee clips. You need to find something else to worry about! Quote
lukeyboy Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I bought some of those fuels clips when I did my build and ended up chucking them in the bin, as they didn't seem that strong. I ended up fitting stainless steel jubilee clips and had no problem at SVA Quote
a4gom Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 IME there's nowt wrong with jubilee clips as long as you keep away from the min dim on the clip, try use them on the extent or beyond and they may not stay round especially on smaller applications due to the size of the screw. When it gets down to fuel hose I generally use the pucka ones shown above from CBS (available from other suppliers) although I know of at least two small jubilees on my car. I've never had a problem with them not been strong enough in fact I think they are stronger than jubilee's, if you have the correct size hose for the pipe you should have no probs with either. Quote
It Almost Looks Like A Car Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Mine has jubillee clips, but did find they tended to cut into hose when tightend and a bit of a pain to use on the smaller connections,it is on my list of things to change one day when it is raining and I'm bored and I have nothing better to do and I have solved my wiring issue before the summer goes away! Jeff2 Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Thanks for the advice, taking on board your comments I think I will stick with the SS Jubilee clips I've already fitted. I'm sure I can now find something else to worry about. Quote
