davidgh Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Matt As a Striker owner, Mel (proprietor of Raw) has been trying to tempt me into Fulcrum ownership. My problem is that I don't like it, because: -- it's heavier than the standard bodywork -- it has such a large frontal area that I can't imagine much aerodynamic advantage except on the very fastest tracks -- I've lost count of the number of nose-cones that I (and my family) have wrecked via over-enthusiasm, and the Fulcrum item is mighty expensive. But, why is it "possibly controversial"? Quote
custardtart Posted June 12, 2008 Author Posted June 12, 2008 Firstly, I'm just in it for some fun so not really interested in getting too involved but the rules go something along the lines of a certain number of cars must be produced for them to eligible. So it also goes that the chassis must be the same underneath as any other Fulcrum......... It could also be said that the Fulcrum is a bodykit and therefore not a true kit in it's own right. This happened before with a Phoenix turning up with something called Phasar bodywork. Again, I don't know how many got made but it seemd a bit like they were just trying to gain an aerodynamic advantage and they had a built in front splitter which you couldn't get on a Phoenix (well not until one turned up at Anglesey sporting what to my mind can only be called a front splitter). Having said all that, I don't really care, it's for the committee to sort out and I'll have just as much fun whatever they decide. Think your right about the Fulcrum aerodynamics although personally I love the styling and Gary Goodyear doesn't seem to be doing to badly in his. BTW did you notice on the vid Dave Aspden's Stryker exiting stage right ? Seemed a real handful that car! Quote
conibear Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 well done Matt Anglesey looks wonderful in that weather At first I thought you've got a rear wheel traction problem, but then realised t'was a dodgy clutch Quote
