custardtart Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Just got back from an 8 hr slog to Anglesey for what turned out to be Pembrey like weather. Anglesey circuit, for those that haven't been before, is actually worth even an 8hr drive. The scenery is incredible with views across the sea to the Snowdon range giving it a sort of surreal Phillip Island feel! The circuit has been newly laid and offered incredible grip with a good mix of fast and technical corners as well as severe undulations. The only downside would once again be the blight of club motorsport circuits ie. the facilities. The showers were rubbish although not quite as bad as Pembrey. First race saw me qualify 13th out of 21 and following a red flag restart I ended up 10th. The front 3 cars, a Taydec, Raw Striker (bizarley and possibly controversially running a "Fulcrum" body) and Pheonix were in a different class whilst the next 15 places were covered by roughly a second meaning there was always a scrap going on somewhere. Race 2 was a little better although a slipping clutch left me last into the first corner I had tremendous fun getting up to 9th. Final race was an allcomers race and although I don't think Buzz made it to Anglesey I did manage to get the better of another Genesis before finishing 5th. So all in all the old Custart Tart didn't do too badly and although we finished highest Westfield (there was only 1 other ) it would be good if we could encourage some more to give it a go? May have some vid shortly. Cheers Matt Quote

custardtart Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 QUOTE definately want to get over for an RGB race asap It's interesting that now the RGB's have moved from ACB10's to the sames tyres as the Kits (AO48's) and we are allowed the Kent cams, there's nothing in the lap times anymore. Will take those pics this week hopefully Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I've always thought the showers at Ty Croes are fine. Maybe I have lower standards than most? Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I've always thought the showers at Ty Croes are fine. Maybe I have lower standards than most? Yep, so did I John, must be those sweaty racers going in a bit dirty than us Quote
custardtart Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 Well this time some forgot to turn the heating on as they were all cold and at the same time they'd nicked the shower curtains (unless they were going for the "Chic Wet Room " look - so you ended up standing in an inch of someone elses dirty water whilst trying to change! Still slightly better than Pembrey but when they'd spent several £mill on the track a few £k on facilities wouldn't be too much to ask? Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 There were both shower curtains and hot water last year although one cubicle had an iffy pull switch and had to be vacated upon discovery and in a naked state. Agree with the water on the floor comment though. Kept meaning to takle my battery drill over to "relieve it" via the floor Quote
