custardtart Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Having just come back from doing 3 races at Anglesey I'd encourage anyone to go there, the track is really good now it's been re-laid and remodelled. Mind you, with the huge grip from the new circuit I have a very sore neck from the amount of track time so good luck with 4 races! Quote
Keith Scarfe Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Looking here... So which one is the 'new series for 7's' then? I am confused. I assume it is the one called 'Sports Car v Saloon Challenge (with Caterhams)' Is that correct? It is a bit of an off putting name for Westfields (and others). Now something called '7s inter marque' or challenge would be good. There is nothing (that I can find) on their web site about a series for 7's! Quote
Mez Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 Hi Kieth, Will ask Peter which four races we can enter. Merrick Quote
conibear Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Hello Merrick Anglesey weekend is a no no for me but I would like to do the French weekend, but notice they also got Brands on that weekend, which one you doing Quote
Mez Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Morning Guys, Peter has sent me this reply to your question, I hope it helps. Hi Guy’s, My name is Peter French and I have read your comments on your forum with interest and I will answer your queries. As you have already read, we are a group of Caterham racers who were told at our last race Of the 2007 season in mid October by the motor club who running our racers that they would not be running races for us in 2008. Late in the day! However we were offered the chance to run a race series for 7’s by the Classic Sports Car Club in 2009; however for 2008 we can could race in the Sports verse Saloons Races with the opportunity to have 7 only races during the year. We accepted the Classic Sports Car Club offer. At the Brands Hatch meeting at the end of April I was asked if by drivers if it would by possible if Westfield’s could race with us? Asked the Original 7 racers who ALL said an emphatic yes! We are not running to any firm regulation at the moment as it is felt that all competitors should have input to those reg’s and as Merrick has said we need to see who fits were. However we will run three classes M, modified for cars on original chassis with free engines, drive train And brakes. Class A for original cars built by the manufacture up to 220 b h p. Class B for original car built by the manufacture up to 160 b h p. But as I say very loose at the moment! There are two race meeting were we will race in Sports verse Saloons which are at Anglesey, on June 28th /29th where there are the opportunity to compete in four races two on each day. At Cadwell Park on September 6th /7th were there is the opportunity to compete in two Sports verseSaloon races one on each day. Each race is treated as an individual race and therefore has its own Qualifying session. There are three race meetings; Croix in France on July 25th/26th/27th there is two twenty Minute races for us plus the opportunity to race in the Sports verse Saloon races. Mallory Park August the 10th at a Morgan Owners Club meeting we have a twenty minute race with the Opportunity to race in the Sports verse Saloon race. Last but not least Snetterton on October the 18th/19th, one forty minute race on the Sunday with the opportunity to race in the Sports verse Saloon race on the Saturday. All races which are entered after the first race are discounted e.g. Anglesey first race is £175 Each subsequent race is charged at £95. Also as you may have already read we enjoy close racing with high driving standards. We Do not want to race in the manufactures championship as the driving standards leave a lot to be Desired and the mandatory modifications that the manufacturer require for each session. All race entrants must be a Classic Car Sports Car Club member at a fee of £30 And this year there is no race registration fee. All race entries are to go to the Classic SportsCar Club. All club applications should have on the membership form 7 Motor Racing Club. All club information can be found at www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk INTRESTED THEN PLEASE CONTACT ME ON TEL NUMBER 07939 274614 FOR FUTHER INFORMATION. Quote
Mez Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Hi Ian, I would love to race at Croix should be a fun weekend. Just waiting to how much work comes in See you soon. Merrick Quote
custardtart Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I have to say that £175 and then £95 is great value. My car might just scrape into the 160bhp class Any tyre restrictions planned for next year? Quote
Mez Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Hi CT, It would be great to have you come out to race with us. At the moment we have to use treadded tyres, eg ACB10's, 48R's, CR500's and Dunlops ETC. I think the decission on 2009 tyres will made by all the 7's competerters. Merrick Quote

Mez Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Ian, I only give you Gary's mobile if this is not going to make you quicker! As you know I only buy one set of ACB's a season for the CSCC rounds.
