Mez Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Morning all, I have been asked to let you all know there is a new race series for 7's type cars e.g. Westfields and Caterhams. Running with the CSCC. The idea is we race together in our own races with out saloons and other sports cars in the same race. LOW COST, CLEAN FUN 7 RACING! The 7 Motor Racing Club is a group of Caterham racers who have raced together for the last six season's During 2007 we were faced with race distance reduction for the 2008 season. If you are intrested in good fun close racing with good driving standards then please read on. As the group wished to continue racing together two of the group, Peter Davies and Peter French investigated the possibilty of continuing to race as a group. The Classic Sports Car Club have offered us the opportunity to race mostly in two sprint races at their 2008 race venues, with the opportunity of long distance races during the year. We are now currently discussing race options for the 2009 season, which will have race lengths of 20 to 40 minutes, dependent apon race venue and cost. The high race entry average the low the entry fee's. We offer a choice of three classes to race in for car engined cars, class M, engines, transmissions, suspension and brake are free. Chassis must be as supplied by original manufacture, running on 13 inch rims. Class A, vehicle equiped with engines up to 220 b h p, using standard specified chassis, engine, transmissions and brakes as supplied by the original manufacture running on 13 inch rims. Class B all vehicles with engines up to 150 b h p useing standard chassis, engines, tranmissions and brake as supplied by the original manufacture. All 7 models designed by either Lotus, Caterham and Westfield will be considered and dependent on numbers of entrants extra classes will be created. Bike engined versions of lotus, Caterham or Westfields will be considered on application. The tyres used in this race series are 1 B to help keep racing costs down. custardtart Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Hi Merrick, how are you You state three classes, but only list class A & B What happens if you have over 220bhp, which some may have No doubt I will see you soon Ian Nope, states Class M (presumably M = Mad) is free so that's the one for you Quote
Mez Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Hi Ian, I'm fine and you, fixed your beast yet? Hope to see you at Lydden Saturday week. If we can sort the engine and new exhaulst. There is the M class for big power cars like yours, Nigels and Terry E's. If you have a Caterham or Westfield no matter how much power there is a class for you. The more 7's the better, we can then decide the classes to make it fair. Merrick Quote

Keith Scarfe Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hi Merrick. Interested . I have my old race car (BARC Westfield championship) sat in the garage in bits and would love to get it back out racing again. It wouldn't be easy for me to get back into the BARC series so I am considering others. I have a really low budget (i.e. nowt) and not much spare time to spend preparing the car these days. So I don't know when or if this might happen. I am actually registered in the TinTops series and may actually get out in a race one day. Another BARC Westfield racer, Jon Morton has a Peugeot 205 and is doing this. He asked me to be second driver on some of the races. I hope to be out at the Oulton one. Cheers. Keith. p.s. where is the information about this series on the CSCC web site. Their site is particularly s***e isn't it. Where can one register interest in it? Quote

Hi Kieth, Still the Narrow bodied roll cage that is holding you back from rejoining us? Hope you're OK mate. Quote
Mez Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 Hi Kieth, It would be good see you on track again. Your car will be very competertive. Give Peter French Tel: 07939 274614 a call he will be very helpfull. I know the CSCC web site is confusing. If the grids for 7's racing fill up this season the CSCC have offered to put on longer races with pit stops and Driver changes. Merrick Quote
Keith Scarfe Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 QUOTE Still the Narrow bodied roll cage that is holding you back from rejoining us? Hi Simon. No i actually have one of these sitting with the rest of the pile of bits waiting to be fitted, it is mainly the engine. I don't have one any more - used to lease off Dunnell. I do however have my old Class B spec 2L Zetec. I seriously can't afford to spend much if any money on the car so this would have to go back in. There is the other stuff like cage, belts, extinguisher, transponder, but that will need doing for any championship I know. It is also the time to do all this. Thus I am just considering it at the moment. I noticed you are doing well this season. Hope you carry on and get some wins. QUOTE If the grids for 7's racing fill up this season the CSCC have offered to put on longer races with pit stops and Driver changes. Thanks Merrick. It defo wouldn't be this season and unlikely 2009 but maybe after this. Quote
Mez Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 Hi Guy's, Peter has ask me pass this on to you. Good to see a V8 Westfield out at Rockingham As you are all aware there is a race meeting at Anglesey on the weekend of the 28 th / 29 th of June. To those who have entered, thanks for your support. To those who are thinking of racing please remember that the closing date for the meeting is the 11 th of June, after the closing date a late entry fee will be charged. There is the opportunity to complete in four qualifying sessions and four races. The entry fee for the first race is £175 and for each subsequent race the entry fee is £ 95. That's up to two hours track time if you compete in all the races. I Know that it is a long way to go but it is the first of the two summer weekends away, one in the first in the U. K. at Anglesey at the end of June and the other in north France at the end of July, but we normally have a great time in each others company in the evenings and have a great fun RACING TOGETHER! Many thanks for your continuing support, news letter to follow when I get time to write it. Regards Peter French. 7 Motor Racing Club. Tel: 07939 274614. Quote
