Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 For those of you keen enough to have read your Motorsport Now magazine, you will have seem that the MSA is looking to bring in a rule that cars will have to have a dry break fuel sampling coupling. Rule 19 page 46. Having read this through and discussed with the MSA it would appear that all the Speed Series cars would have to have one fitted. Having discussed with a few of the committee members, the extra expense of what seems an unecessry peice of equipment for our sport, seemed to be at odds with encouraging people into motorsport. I have therefore put an objection to this rule to the MSA and hope that this will be listened to. Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Well spotted and well done Nick. I could do with a dry break myself though Quote
Terry Everall Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Well done Nick and the Committee. What are they going to test for Methanol??? Quote

Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Thats the first of the rumours I heard on the 14 April confirmed how long before the rest rear their ugly heads. Getting ready to jump on the rest of them, hopefully we and the other competitors in other clubs will be listened to. Time will of course tell. Quote
windy Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 They've tried fuel sampling in rallying already, it didn't work and started to put competitors off. Organising clubs suffered from lack of entries for the rest of the season which resulted in them (the clubs) putting pressure on the MSA to stop sampling. There were fears that clubs would go to the wall if the MSA enforced the fuel rule. Although the rule is in place I don't think the MSA will dare try sampling any more cars in future. Most clubs are ignoring the rule & carrying on regardless. The WSCC should put pressure on the MSA & apply for exemption of the fuel sampling / RON octane rule as a matter of principle. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Fuel will probably never be checked and neither will cats at our level of motorsport - BUT it only takes one over zealous, officious scrute to get on his bluebook soapbox to ruin someones day an I'm sure we can all name one or two of those Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 The WSCC should put pressure on the MSA & apply for exemption of the fuel sampling / RON octane rule as a matter of principle. Have suggested one solution is to exclude from Sprints & Hillclimbs. It is going to be interesting to see what response we get. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 QUOTE It is going to be interesting to see what response we get. If any Like last time and time before that the MSA current approach appears to be making sprints and hills as difficult and as costly as possible Quote
