The Great Fandango Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Geeez, what a blimin' nightmare! Why can't anything be simple?... SWMBO and I had our heart set on a nice new gas fired BBQ seeing that we've just had our jungle turned into a useable lawn and patio. We fell in love with the Weber Spirit E210 at £249.99 from HomeBase and went out to buy it yesterday. Our local store said they had 3 in stock but when we got there they couldn't find them. They phoned their nearest sister store and got a chap to physically check stock. He confirmed they were definitely in so we drove over... you guessed it!... only to find they too couldn't find them! It gets worse. We got home to find an answerphone message to say the FIRST store we went to had actually found one (by this point we were fed up). Looked online today only to find out that HomeBase's version comes WITHOUT cupboard and doors?!? Eventually bought it today from here (notice it has doors). £10.00 cheaper and free next day delivery too! Final rant and then I'll leave you in peace... Did you know the cheeky feckers at HomeBase tell you that you can only buy gas refills from them?!? This obviously isn't the case, especially on branded BBQs such as weber. Warning if you buy HomeBase's own BBQs, they apparently only attach to HomeBase gas bottles. Rant over, grrrrr Quote
Blatman Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 QUOTE Warning if you buy HomeBase's own BBQs, they apparently only attach to HomeBase gas bottles. One for trading standards to look at methinks. Smacks of non competition practices to me. If you're really p****d at B&Q, ring your local Trading Standards dept and tell them. It'll cost you nowt, and they will send a bloke to round to ask the question.... Quote
dombanks Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 home base is part of the axis of evil or as we know it Argos. What you said is not supprising. Quote
Blatman Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Not surprising, but also quite possibly not in the spirit of consumer choice rules... Quote
cliveboy8 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 If you're really p****d at B&Q, ring your local Trading Standards dept and tell them. Don't think there is much point in mentioning B&Q??? Thought your gripe was with Homebase?? Quote
congorobot Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Think I will just stick with my carbeque at least its fully adjustable for all conditions! I am actually starting to get upgradeitis. For this season I was thinking a pair of nitrons would be quite tasty, as well as a hotter cam, and something to control the oil surge! Quote
The Great Fandango Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Congorobot, I think your BBQ needs lowering 20mm and perhaps some chrome around the edge? Oh.... And what does it rev to? Quote

Those springs look too soft, I think you need to go for 400lb springs. Quote
congorobot Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 QUOTE Those springs look too soft, I think you need to go for 400lb springs. I dont recon so. I had it corner weighted with 2 burgers a steak and some ribs on it, half full of fuel. Only problem I am experiencing is my ignition system seems to play up on damp days! Quote
