Scottish Westy Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Hi De Hi fellow campers, car enthusiasts and party animals. I have already spoken to Stuart (carpetstu) regarding this topic but would like to hear more opinions on this subject. SKCC have been notified by Stoneleigh Management that complaints were received about our pitch on Saturday and Sunday evenings for noise and will therefore lose that pitch for next year and be stuck out in the sticks where we can't annoy anyone. I know we had a group chatting and laughing into the small hours on Saturday evening but on Sunday evening we were in bed by 12.30 in preparation for the long drive home, although we did get a shout from a pitch at 10.30 telling us to "shut up". I would appreciate some comments from your campers to either support us or put us in our place, if we were out of order and kept people awake then we will offer our apologies in a formal manner, if we weren't disturbing our neighbours then I would like to use your comments to support our case. You can contact me any way you wish, if you want it to be open or private or through your event organiser it is up to you. I believ this subject is close to your own hearts after an issue a few years ago so you will know how we feel regarding this, it has put a dampner on a brilliant weekend. Hope to hear from some if not all. Thanks Graeme Quote
Emma Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Never heard a thing from you guys- someone did have their music on on the Sunday night - AFTER we had been forced to turn ours off - sounded further away than you guys though!!!! It was unfair that we were told to shut down, only to be able to hear another party somewhere else still carrying on!!!! Everytime we came out of the marquee, you guys looked to be sat chatting, but couldnt hear you!!! Dont know if this will help in any way!!! Heaven forbid anyone who was caught having a good time Quote
samcooke Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 TBH, noise was the least of my concerns with you lot, I'm still having nightmares about those mankinis. Awkward subject really, I've every sympathy with those looking for a quiet night, but I have to say that it seems to me that a little late night noise is in the spirit of the event. The usual solution at other events and locations I go to is to have a choice of 'quiet camping' and 'noisy camping' when booking, this keeps everyone happy. If they shove you to the outside of the site you may just end up next to another club looking for an early night. Quote
PeP Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 As a 1st timer to this years event it seems to me if they tried to get rid of all the party people there wouldn't be many left Personally the only complaint I heard was my missus saying how rough she felt on monday morning On a serious note, we were sleeping over the road from the SKCC and never heard a squeak. The usual solution at other events and locations I go to is to have a choice of 'quiet camping' and 'noisy camping' when booking, this keeps everyone happy. If they shove you to the outside of the site you may just end up next to another club looking for an early night. Too true. Quote
nlash Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I was chatting to a few of our neighbours on Sunday and there were some complaints about a woman laughing loudly through to the early hours of Sunday morning. They didn't mention where it was coming from but as they were neighbours to our camping area, I guess it was close by also. I suspect these people may have taken things further Quote
Fent Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 As far as I can remember there was still loud music playing after we had given up and turned in so to complain about us seems a little harsh. We were not exactly up late , certainly within the limits that I would expect for such an event where people are getting together for a few drinks etc. What is the problem here, if it is families and kids then ok, noise late at night could be a nuisance should we not have a quiet family area far away so they dont get disturbed. This could also be situated by the miserable fukker area. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Graeme Send me the details PM or e-mail and I'll send through some info to organisers Quote
Pilot Pete Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 This narks me a bit, what do people expect when you get a large gathering of likeminded souls together with a few beers. Happened at JAE a couple of years back with the CRX bods, I think we pi$$ed off the nissan primera club or something! Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I can see both sides of this everybody wants to have fun bit it is a family gathering as well as a P**s head gathering and too much noise could be a problem. By the way I am not saying that the club was making too much noise as I did not go. Quote
cidersurfer Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 There was a bit of this sort of thing (engines revving, it's late, etc,) on the Locostbuilders earlier this week. They say it wasn't them and promptly blamed the MK owners Was it you? I have no idea as I wasn't there but did enjoy the Werrington Hillclimb on Staurday, an excellent pub meal with Westfield friends on Sunday and a lovely day walking the dog on the beach on Monday... Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 My Wife and I (do I sound like the Queen) are the lightest sleepers in the world, the slightest noise and we are awake both nights at the show we went to bed sometime between 12.00 and 1.00am, we never heard a thing, we were in the midst of the Westy Caravan club site and as close to the Westfield slalom as you could get. As others have said at an event like this someone's bound to upset someone else with their own idea of what a good time should be like. It's a fantastic once a year social event, live and let live. They ought to try camping at Litchlake farm at the GP at Silverstone, then they'll know what a noisy night is. Quote
carpetstu Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 As I have already pointed out in the Pm's to Graeme we were about 15ft from them and we had a relatively early night. Kris ( the wife ) was with me this year and due to her been hit with by a car 3 weeks ago, we gave the marquee up fairly early and chilled by the tents. The noise level was low from the Scottish camp and some one seems to be bearing a grudge! If the sad people that can't cope with a bit of noise are so upset, maybe they should look at Saga holidays as an alternative getaway!!!! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Anyone that doesn't camp in the official camp site areas designated by the organisers Grosvenor Exhibitions, has no reason to complain Blocks assigned for car Clubs are not designated camping areas but tolerated for the overall benefit and interest of clubs Knowing what clubs are said to have made complaints - it very much sounds like a case of sour grapes against the Scottish Kit Car Club SKCC - perhaps you need to bring down some proper malt for next years "Stoneleigh DO" and share with friends only Quote

Have to be Honest and say We heard this Laughing on Saturday night in our tent in the Westy camp It did keep us awake, but having said that you have to expect these sort of things when you attend one of these events The King of bling was in the same tent as me and it kept him awake aswell He was already suffering with a Stomach bug so this didn't help We didn't complain though as in the past i'm sure We've kept other people awake at events Quote
jeffro Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Hi all It was my second time of staying over night. This year for me was great. Yes there was noise but as said before it's all about being in the party mood. I will be staying next year may be for two nights jeffro Quote
