DickieB
I found this in my father's stuff the other day - a sort of substitute Lord's Prayer, and obviously 50s/60s type era, but still good: I believe in Chapman, the Constructor Almighty, and in Jim Clark, his only World Champion so far, who was conceived by the BRDC, born at Indianapolis, suffered under officialdom at Zandvoort, was scruitineered, passed and labelled. The third day he rose again from the grid, and sitteth on the inside of Abbey. From thence he will come to judge the BRMs and the Coopers. I believe in oil pressure, the Holy Coventry Climax, the Communion of Gears, the forgiveness of spins, the resurrection of valve gear, for Lola and McLaren. Ferrari! I don't know its provenance, and I don't agree with Ferrari replacing "Amen", but then Williams weren't around then!
Donny Posted Saturday at 20:39 Share Posted Saturday at 20:39 Hi there, I know it’s been 16 years since your post!! 🤣🤣🙈 …but believe it or not a friend of mine has a cutout of the original “A prayer for the enthusiast” which he has kept in his wallet for 60+ years and still in good condition! For years he has been asking around about it and no one has ever heard of it…. Until now!! He has also shown it to Clive Chapman (Colin Chapman’s son) at a Jim Clark Trust event, who was moved to taking a photo of it with Jim Clark’s championship winning Lotus 25. We are Sat having a drink and a blether and I thought I’d try googling! Took me a while but I finally found your post! My friend would be very interested to hear more about it, where it comes from, and who wrote it. I do have a photo of it but not sure how to include it here with the URL. Bit of a long shot but would be great to hear back from you. Cheers, Donny.
