AA/RAC or other?

Anyone have any recomendations for europewide breakdown cover?

I'd want it to be multicar preferably.

Also, if you're not carrying a spare wheel (i never do in the westy) and get a puncture, is there a charge for carrying you back home?

I'm with the RAC because they cover me, whatever vehicle I'm in (I have two cars and two bikes) regardless of wether I am the driver or not.  AA only covers one vehicle.

The RAC will tow you home or to a local repair shop with a puncture if your car was not sold with a spare wheel, like mine.  I have a can of tyre weld in the boot - if that doesn't work then they will tow me home or somewhere to get the tyre changed.

I had to call them out last week to a van I was a passenger in when the driver filled it with petrol.  (diesel van) Got towed to local garage at mid night and they drained the tank and got it goin in about an hour.  Cost the driver £280 mind but the tow was free.

Hmmm, it appears cheaper to have a UK policy and then take out european cover whenever it's necessary.

Autoaid seem to do a good UK anycar policy for £36

IC BReakdown seem to do a good UK/Europe policy for £69 but only for a single car.

The cheapest policy i could to combine europe with multicar was £189!

Try the ADAC ... german aa who sub to the aa in the uk ....... full euro cover and no doubt will do multicar.

Incorrect. AA provide both personal (i.e. as you describe for RAC) or vehicle cover.

WOw!

Good work Harv :t-up:

It appears i can get everything I wanted as standard for €44.50!

Is this who you use? Have you ever had any experience with a breakdown?

Is there a link to an English version of the ADAC website? I can only find the German one and don't speak it! €44.50 sounds like a bargain so would  be up for that.

Cheers

I was going to suggest them as well, they are on my list for when the RAC expires.

yes we have used them many times , we used to have a german address as well as a uk one but its all done though have used them for breakdown in both the uk and europe , when you phone them and speak english thy speak perfect english back (though if you use a little grman it pleases them no end even if its vry basic hello do you spect english )

I even used them when we came across a poor old guy who had just been swiped buy a polish truck on the m25 i called them and aranged recovery as the lorry had buggeed off and the police didn't want to know (and i think the motorway muppets were on tea break) .

they are very efficient and we have actually seen adac vans in the uk ,i think there are couple that saunter around the south east .

also the ADAC are the only recovery company who will recover you from the ring

So it does !     The front page of their web site says it covers your vehicle but you can change it later on to personal or family . . . ummm, they've probably lost a lot of business because of that.
