Gigi Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I want your opinion on camber-caster settings for my Megabird. Its on Nitrons,205/60/13 Toyos,ARB's,Rose Jointed. I drive it in quite tight circuits. Is there another setting for driving on slicks? Quote
Terry Everall Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 The settings are basically the same for all tyres but differ for radials and crossply. The spring rates can differ depending on whether you have ARB's fitted and the shocker settings will need to be altered to suit road or track. You need a basic set up then the facility to test changes and recognise what the car is doing in terms of handling. Then you need to change it to get understeer or oversteer to suit your driving style. different circuits and different speeds present differnt probLems Quote
Gigi Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 Which are typical camber-caster angles for track use.? First I want to find the right angles, and then set the suspension, depending on my driving style and track. Thanks Quote
Terry Everall Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 You cant change castor angle on a westie! Camber - Try 1 deg on rear and 1.5 deg on front for radials. Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 QUOTE You cant change castor angle on a westie! Yes you can. You use rose jointed ends on your wishbones and spacers between them and the chassis brackets Quote
Terry Everall Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Far too complicated and achieves bog all IMHO Quote
V 8 Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Far too complicated and achieves bog all IMHO Terry, you're a lovely, lovely chap, but I've got to disagree with you there m8y Quote
Terry Everall Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Looks like someone needs a guide angle for castor then Presumably even with rose joints and packers you cant change it that much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Yes you can. Its not just the width of the packers that can make the adjustment its also on the threads of the rose joints. By there adjustment in and out at the front or rear of the wishbone, the outer end of the wishbone moves considerably. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Caster adjustment can be quite helpful I run more caster than Westfield would pit in them selves. Quote
