geordieboy Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Peoples I have measured the existing wheel stud lengths from the face of the hub in the hope that all you Pro race owners can help: Fronts 28mm Rear 32mm Thinking of purchasing rims with offsets of et35 for the front and et25 for the rear. From your experiences is my existing studs lengths long enough? Are using open or closed end wheel nuts Ian S Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Use open ended wheel nuts to ensure full thread engagement. Also better to fit wheels all of the same offset and use spacers to adjus the protrusion on the rears with longer studs (available from Rally Design). This gives better interchangability of the wheels if swapping from front to rear etc. Quote
FW500 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I have just found my ET 23 Pro Race 1.2s are causing me a bit of a nightmare fitting the front cycle wings. A 15 minute job has just turned into a complete event. Go with 35s all round. Quote

The offset will vary dependant on car type. On my SE live I run ET 20 all round. Quote
geordieboy Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 Car type = SEIW with Seirra brake caliper set-up. With the length of stud on the rear = 33mm then i am presuming i will need extra long studs for an ET35 offset if a 10mm wheel spacer is added. hence my thoughts abouts et25's on the back only so as to avoid the use of wheel spacers Ian S Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 You will be fine with et35 and spacers I had to cut my studs down with et30 and no spacers Quote
chappers Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I run et+35 pro race 15" alloys on mine. Only because the front cycle wings were fitted for et+35. I was going to get et+23 for the rears to fill the arches, but in the end I went for +35 so I could swap wheels front to back. I was running a 10 mm spacer after fitting longer 63mm length studs to the rear. Any narrower than this then the studs would touch the ends of the closed nuts before they tightened the wheels up. Had to switch to a 12mm spacer when I fitted McGuard closed locking wheel nuts to avoid having to cut about 2mm off the studs for the same reason. If you don't need to swap wheels around then go for +35 on the front and +23 on the rear with no spacer and thus no need to add longer studs, since different offsets do'nt change the required stud length when spacers are not being used. markboyce Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 This has no relevance to your question but Halfords on Newmarket Road in Cambridge had a set of 4 Team Dynamics Pro race 1.2 with 195x45x15 Toyo tyres for 330 quid all in a week ago. Offset was ET35 and the wheels were 7"x15" They were clearing out all the old stock of wheels and tyres and it seemed a very good price to me. Quote
