blankczechbook Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 lightweight, good acceleration - compared to others of its time... simple electrics and low number of engine parts - less to go wrong. not prone to bodywork rust... i still dont want one though ! the thought of driving behind one makes me choke and eyes water.... dont ever tailgate one of these in your westie!!!! pistonbroke Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Kind of ironic really , he gets a court order and a fine for having scrap metal on show in one part of the countryside . On the other hand we pay out thousands of pounds for "peices of old scrap iron" to be put on display (albeat welded into "arty" shapes) in other parts Quote
Fat Albert Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 When I was in Hungary in 1992 I saw many Trabants but only one left a lasting memory... As the last gasps of twilight faded just before night fell after a blazing hot (40degC) windless, airless day in the south east of the country bordering Romania I and a few mates saw a flickering vision approaching through the smog preceded by that unique 'putt putt' ululation that identifies an approaching two stroke. The apparition got closer and closer, belching smoke and other highly toxic fumes until the haze thinned and the source of the flickering became obvious, candles inside the headlights! I've wondered since what the driver thought of the crazed eye, tear streaming, belly grabbing, hernia inducing laughter than overcame us! Quote
