carpetstu Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 I have ordered the material and screen channel for my half hood and yesterday I made some enquiries with a boat canopy company to see if they would make the hood for me. I had a call back today saying they will do so and are also looking into other options like tonneau covers, wheel covers, head light covers etc. It would be good to see if there is interest from other club members for any of the above plus anything else. They are very keen to do Westfield bits as a main interest but would like to try and establish a need before investing in materials etc. Quote
Rory's Dad Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Why do you need a mainsail cover?? Surely mainsails are meant to be out in the wind and the rain Rory's Dad Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 It will be he lives in the land of monsoons.Lancashire you know where all the s**t rugby teams are! As for the bikini top hoods I'd be interested once I've had a look at some pictures and know the cost Buzz Quote

Darren B Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Soft bits for sevens already make these.... SBFS Quote
sowts Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 the only problem for me is they use the press stud fixing to the window screen which would then mean i couldnt use my westfield roof as this has a plastic slot thing to join it to the car Quote

Get a plastic windscreen rail from WF and they can make a hood up for you. They will do anything - within reason. Quote

carpetstu Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 Sowts The car is OK and holding its fluids. The factory sent me some new stoppers today and they aren't walking stick bungs this time! Soft bits for sevens do make half hoods but when I asked them they didn't have a pattern and wanted the car taking to them! Plus they didn't seem very interested and were expensive IMO. The plastic channel Westfield sell is the same as the one on the full hood so problem sorted re fitting to the screen. I will post up pics as soon as my hood is made and get some prices asap. Edited to add - The company are Midlands / Staffordshire based so this might make life easier for people wanting soft stuff for their car, if they are midlands based. They are also very interested in gearing up / marketing towards Westfields as their main car side of the business. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 I'd be interested in a tonneau - made to suit and fit my "half" doors Quote

They made a half hood for my 2004 SEiW with the plastic channel sold to them direct from Westfield for the windscreen and with an RAC bar. They were more than helpful as mine required a couple of mods to get the rear clips above the level of the boot box lid. Quote

Darren I really don't want to start a debate on Soft bits for sevens and the only reason for this post is for the people who want an alternative source closer to the midlands. I do not have the time to track my car to Sussex and back. Jill at SBfS is a friend of my brothers who lives in surrey an drives a Caterham, and I have no gripe with them. But on two previous occassions they have told me they require the car to make the hood. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Ditto for me stu - I want a one off tonneau but somewhere Midlands rather than driving to surrey to drop off car and then collect Quote
