From the requirement sheet of “How to be a motoring TV journalist”, it would appear that rolling vowels (or bowels in VBH’s case) maniacal eyes and the ability to read from a carefully crafted script of clichéd put-downs while driving through London are the chief prerequisite. But whatever the reasons for VBH getting the gig on television, one thing is for sure, it certainly wasn’t because of her looks…

I know a pilot for BA and he tells an interesting story about 747 pilots. Apparently, the joke is that when you get your "chair" in a jumbo, along with it you get a Ferrari and a divorce. One such gentleman upon leaving the wife with a suitcase one morning for the last time had to take the Porsche instead of the 355 because the suitcase wouldn't fit inside. The only regret he apparently had was that he didn't have the presence of mind at the time to empty out the clothes onto the passenger seat of the 355 and leave the suitcase on the doorstep.
