gixermark Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Hi Guys, I have one of those SPA tacho's on my car - the one with integrated speedo and rev lights etc... having just taken the blade lump out and in again - the rev counter won't work... the unit is getting power ok - but teh needle isn't moving when teh engine is running.. not sure if its fed off the coil packs or the ECU - but if i knew what wire takes the Rev's input i could take a feed off the ECU direct as i think i know which wire feeds from it... Thanks in advance.... Mark. Quote
westy666 Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 well according the the destructions it prefers being connected to the tacho output of your ecu. Red is the tacho input to the guage - connnect up to the ecu tacho output or connect the red to the neg side of the coil. Black, green/yell goes to ground. Does the needle go through its startup routine or stay dead when the unit is powered up? My needle got stuck at the end of last year and had to go back for a repair. (FOC) Quote
gixermark Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 thanks - will try connecting it up to the ecu feed tomorrow to see if it registers... just strange that it did it before the engine being put back in which would hint at a connection not being made... if needs be will returm it - but have test day this wed and first race wk end coming up - so may have to do without :-( Quote
gixermark Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 just for the benefit of others if they search this in future... the rev input wire is the thin red wire - the one at eth corner of the connector - there are 3 red wires in total - the thick one os 12v supply, and the other red wire is the feed off the loom/coil pack which i think is a higher voltage rating - best to check this if you don't intend to feed off the ECU as i did.. Thanks again to westy 666 for his help.. Mark. Quote
