I have two weeks off work to do bits around the house and a bitof work on the Westy.

I was going to refit a Wood Dash like I had before I binned it to get through SVA, but a bloke a work who used to have a Se7en style car said wood was out of character with the car and I should go for Carbon or that swirly machined aluminium stuff.

Cheapest is obviously 'leave it alone' or 'Wood' as I have the blanks already.  Proper carbon seems to be about £100 for the real stuff and I don't know where to get the ally).

I already have the white faced clocks and ideally want to keep them for now, but I am going to install some Savage switches and a t-shaped LED warning light set.

Any strong opinions either way?

Got any piccies of the existing?

And, if carbon's too steep, how about a thick carbon-effect plactic from ESP?

Carbon but then I've got a fettish for that sort of thing

OR I could let you have a piece of ally (foc) to do the job, but you will have to do the srily thing yourself all you need is a drill a bit of wood and some valve grinding in paste.

PM me

No need for piccies - bog standard factory dash with White dials and standard warning lights and switches.

I don't like carbon-effect, so it would have to be the pukka gen item.  it's not the 100 notes that puts me off, it's just that loads of people have carbon dashes and I wanted my car to look a bit different.

I have plenty of sheet ally that I got as scrap from work ages ago, but without a step-and-repeat milling tool at home to do the job properly and a press to do the rolled edge, it looks like a straight choice between wood and carbon.

Not a bad idea...

... I could add frets, make the sound hole into a glove box and use the warning lights as position markers.

That would prove that I am a complete :arse:

I think machined/swirled ally looks crap. Belongs on a boat, not a car... same goes for marine ply, unless you have a Morgan fetish...

IMHO of course :oops::blush:

You could always cover the ally/wood/whatever with some vinyl.

The trouble with trying to do something different is that there are limited options that both look good, and will also stand up to the rigours of being outdoors in the p*****g rain...

Not really a Morgan fetish, but my first car was a 1964 Triumph Herald and it had a proper wood veneer dash, not like the Fords and Vauxhalls of the time that my mates had.

Thinking about it, you are right about ally and boats.

Looks like carbon then  :sheep:  :sheep:  :sheep:

So much for individuality :arse:  :arse:

Trust me, you ARE an individual...

Clapton reckons if you're a good enough guitarist, you don't need a whammy bar...

... best I fit one then :D

Hi all

I was in Carbon Mods at the weekend and they're apparently going to bring out a new carbon dash with an integrated centre panel dropping down to the tunnel. So, if that floats your boat, hang on a while and keep an eye on their website. You can then be as individual as me when I order one!

Cheers
