Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how much it would cost to have a car transported from Cornwall to Leicester?

My friend has given me an MGB Roadster to restore, and I havent got a towbar so havent got anything to tow my mates trailer with.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Leigh

Hi leigh c,

My brother in law is leicester based and has a recovery truck basically thats what he does, if you want pm me your phone number and i can pass it onto him. If you get a tow bar fitted I'm pretty sure a lot of people here would let you use there trailers including my self Brum based though.

Darrell - been toying with this idea, but I would have to cut my rear bumper, and being 23 and not having the facility on my licence, "  ;) technically"  ;)  it would be illegal..

To tow a vehicle on the road I believe it at least needs an MoT

IIRC it cost me about £250 in 2005 when I had my Westy transported to and from the factory for a suspension setup and pre-SVA check, etc.

I live almost exactly 100 miles from the factory, FWIW.

Check out Classic Car Weekly for some contacts.  There is a firm called Torquay Motors (01626 832220) who are not far from your likely route, and would not have to go a huge distance to pick up from Cornwall.  If you chose someone more central you might have to pay for the out leg as well.

I might just buy a dogger like this

ewItem" target="_blank">Dogger :o)

drive down and pick it up and then sell it when I get back

Not on a Trailer that's how track only cars get transported as they don't have an MOT.

As far as your problem is concerned has it MOT or anything? You could get down there and then the AA will bring you back  :D  :t-up:

If not I've seen some listings on ebay for car transportation but I bet it's expensive.

See how much it is and if very expensive best of getting a mate to take you or I'll do it for the right price  ;)
