Surely the main issue of the litigation was regarding the use of the number, or numeral, seven or 7 as the model type or name? In other words, what started as the Westfield Seven had to become as a result of the litigation the Westfield SE. That was my understanding, but I may be talkingb*****k* of course!

Thank you for the replies perhaps I could add what I know about the Seven model. When I bought the kit in 1987 Westfield made three cars, the Eleven, Seven and glass bodied pre lit.

The kit for the alloy body was twice the price of the glass version which was by then the best seller.

The problem Caterham had with the alloy seven was they looked the same to the untrained eye. The main differance was the frame, they both used X-flow/BDA power with Ford 1600 sport gearbox and Ital rear axle.

My car was number 130 of appox.135 made but I think a lot of these went to Japan. Many years ago I was in the Westfield club in the Sussex area. Perhaps some members may remember the car.

I know of at least 2 other ally bodied Westfields. Someone by the name of Brad Gould has / used to sprint one and I think Kevin Leaper who writes for PPC magazine has just bought one and includes details of it in some of his write ups.

Steve Pritchard (Mid life crisis) reckoned his was alloy bodied, certainly doesnt look like a prelit.

Only the side panels Mark, the rest is fiberglass, and you are right it's not a prelit. I think MAC1 may have decided to fit them when they rebuilt the car with the new chasis after the accident, as they utilised some of the old bodywork, and some new bits, no idea why.

???  ???  ???  ???  ???
