Plus Net Broadband

Does anybody know what their stance on using old email addresses is?

I've searched their site but can't find anything.

SWMBO and me both have BT addresses which we would both like to keep, but I'm getting p****d of with BT's reliability.

Me too, and they are uncompetitive if you have been with them for some time.

Woke up this morning thinking must change - but would like to keep my btinternet e-mail address.

Will keep you posted

On ISPReview.co.uk at the mo the favourites seem to be ADSL24 or Titan.  Both Entanet resellers with exactly the same packages starting at £16.50 per month for up to 8meg.  Wonderfully consistent and fast broadband with no download shaping and great UK based backup apparently.

I have found Plusnet to be reasonably good even after the BT take over. They're not perfect but not worth rocking the boat for in changing to another, unknown, provider.

Ditto, i've bin with them for about 6 or 7 years through dial up, dsl, adsl, now broadband with phone package and although there has been the odd trip along the way I've been happy enough.

P.s. Sorry Martin, don't know the answer to the question, try a question / search on the plus net community / forum?

Interesting. What is wrong with them?

This would appear to disagree with that, BBC News Article

I was with Plusnet for a year and had brilliant service and very fast speeds.  No longer with them due to a contract with another company but I would def use again in the future

Which? magazine have found Zen Internet and Waitrose the top ISPs for the last three years running...

we use Zen and their service and backup is very good plus you only signup to a monthly contract so getting out when you move or want to change for any reason is easy  :t-up:

even their top end package which claims to be suitable for downloading has its max speed capped during peak hours, and a 13gb limit per month between 4pm and midnight. In torrent s I never saw more than 200kb/sec, and any breach of limits resulted in speeds that were nigh on unuseable.

I swapped to Be and Ive had no problems, regularly see a combined 4-500kb/sec on torrents while browsing as well and they dont seem to have any useage limits whatsoever (altho they could implement one through their fair use clause)

Theres nothing much wrong with plus as such if you just browse, but there is cheaper 2 meg BB available, and for the same money, far faster service!

Not had a problem with Plusnet in about 5 years until a hole in their spam filter earlier this year which they fixed fairly quickly. However, I tend to be a browser rather than a downloader.
