JeffC Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 as much as I dislike V8s have to say that would be the answer http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-RS....2780592 Quote
Morbius Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Guy appears to be a breaker from his other items. If it is genuine, it will end up going for silly money. Mind you, any ideas if it will fit in a SEiW chassis? Quote
dombanks Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 would the stright 6 BMW engine he has fit in a westy or is it too long? my mate had one of the 3.0L lumps in a z3 m sport and it was a prety quick motor. Quote
Leon B Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 That would be perfect in a XTR4 or maybe call it an XTR8? Quote
MK11 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 A very very nice engine. Shame the gearbox is Quattro, but that is easily changed. I don't think there is much hope of it fitting into a normal Westfield due to the width, but lengthwise and height wise there should be no reason it won't go into an XTR. There is someone dahn sarf that has put an Audi V8 and TDi 6 speed box into a Lotus Esprit and made a very nice job of it too. I did consider doing something similar with a Spire GTR but settled for the XI instead. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 It definately will NOT fit in a SEiW I've been down that route. well it will but a chassis/body redesign is on the cards!!... its too wide a'V' A very very nice engine. Shame the gearbox is Quattro, but that is easily changed. yeah right, easliy changed it might be but the ECU talks to the gear box to help with diffs/power spread etc if it doesn't get the correct response then it the engine goes into 'limp home' mode so basically you dump the Audi ECU and go aftermarket ECU.Buzz Quote
MK11 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I know all about the ECUs, I used to work for Cosworth Technology and we developed the RS4 engine, along with most of the other high performance Audi engines (S6, RS6, S8, R8 etc etc) (new Nissan GT-R anyone?) The development car for the RS4 was given to Dr Piech to test and he gave it to his wife, she came back and said the car needed more revs, so we gave it some and the resulting engine is, as Mr Clarkson puts it, one of the best engines ever. We also did a one off A8 with a V10 Biturbo which Dr Peich had over Christmas one year, he came back and said "I want this engine, and I want it in everything!" Well we tried, but it just wouldn't fit in an A4, but the A6 was a goer hence the new RS6. Quote
