Gigi Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Hello, everybody. Yesterday I decided to change the battery but because I put the cables opposite. After this stupidity, the car doesnt start. Althought the starter works, the fuel pump doesnt(because of immobilizer?). I checked the fuses and they are ok. Should I check something else(relay?),or I need a new ECU? Thanks Quote
mikeyy Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 you might well have done what imobiliser is it??? is there seperate fuse fo this??? Quote
Blatman Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Is the battery now fully charged? If not, it may simply be that the ECU is not seeing enoough voltage to power up. They usually like to see a bit over 10 volts during cranking in order to do their thing. Do you have a comms lead and a lap top? If so, turn the ignition on and interrogate the ECU. Don't go blindly making assumptions until you've done lots of diagnosis. What ECU is it? How long was it connected incorrectly? Does the charger have a reverse polarity protection circuit? I would hope that most ECU's have reverse polarity protection built in, so you may have simply blown a fuse inside the ECU, rather than blow the whole thing... If you haven't got a comms lead, ask around at your local area, maybe someone will have one you can borrow. Quote
Gigi Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 This is the honda immobilizer(it reads the honda key). The thing is that I have ignition(the starter spins) but I dont hear the fuel pump getting power as always before ignition,so it doesnt start. Quote
moomin Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 The ECU has a diagnostic/service mode which may give you some clues - there are instructions on how to use this in the Blackbird Haynes manual. Is the ECU powering up at all - i.e. any warning lights you may have such as oil pressure or neutral indicator? I guess there is also a chance that some wiring has toasted somewhere, that is going to difficult to find. It sounds like you have power to the main loom, as you can turn the starter - presumably the lights etc work ok? Need to determine if the ECU is powering up first, and then check the diagnostics for any faults. moomin Quote

The thing is that I have ignition(the starter spins) but I dont hear the fuel pump getting power as always before ignition,so it doesnt start. The ECU controls the fuel pump (once it recognises the immobiliser key fob). If you do end up getting a new ECU, remember that you will need at least one key matched with it. Do you currently have just the one key that does the immobiliser and ignition lock? (not sure how Westfield themselves do this) moomin Quote
Gigi Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 All warning lights are up(gas, pressure, handbreak, tacho, ligths etc). This gives me hope. I tried both keys. Tomorrow I will change the 2 relays, hoping that they are the only toasted thing...Any other suggestion? Quote
mikeyy Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 did you keep hiss light from bike dash as if the system is not working you get the hiss light coming on and stays on mike Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 The hiss light is not on the car. moomin, the hiss ring is around the ingition barrel so normal honda immobiliser stuff. (this is my old car, the dark blue one ;-) ) Quote
moomin Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 moomin, the hiss ring is around the ingition barrel so normal honda immobiliser stuff. (this is my old car, the dark blue one ;-) ) Did you have to cut a blank Honda key to the Allegro ignition barrel then? I never did this on mine, I removed the barrel and chopped the Honda key off so it is just a fob for the immobiliser. moomin Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I chopped the honda key as well, but also "modified" the HISS ring so that it fits around the barrel. So the normal "westfield" key is inserted in the barrel, the chopped honda key dangles under it and the HISS ring reads it. **edit** Thanks for all your help with Nikiforos' car, I pointed him to your website as it was an invaluable fountain of knowledge when I was trying to get my car through SVA and change various bits. Gigi Posted February 25, 2008 Author Posted February 25, 2008 Petros&moomin, thanks a lot for your help. I checked the 2 relays and they are OK. The neutral and oil pressure are getting power on start. On Thursday an electrician friend of mine will check the car deeper. I hope that its something simple.. Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Doesn't sound like a fried ECU to me. Nikiforos, make sure the chopped honda key is very close to the HISS ring and place the key next to it just in case the HISS ring cannot read the immobiliser chip which is embedded in the honda key. ** I assume you still have the chopped honda key in the same keyring with the normal key that goes in the ignition barrel and you haven't binned it...** Quote
Gigi Posted February 25, 2008 Author Posted February 25, 2008 Petros, the first day I received the car the engine started immediatelly with no problem.I know that I have to get the key close to the hiis ring. The problem started after my stupidity with the battery Quote
