Jeff2 Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 The idea of removing spare wheel and converting the carrier so that it carries a waterproof case had also occurred to me. I would be interested to know what sort of conversion and bag did you have in mind? I haven't actually done anything yet but I was thinking of strapping something like this to the back using a spare wheel and wheel fixing bolts Box Quote
simmi Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Hope they do work, I have one in the car for a couple of years now, I will have to look if it has a expirey date on it!! Took my spare off because it was marking the paint work as well as some one nicking it Simmi. Quote
eustache Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Box looks a good idea if right size and price can be found. Quote
Grunty Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 This is my first post so hopefully I'm not talking out of my ! The company I work for use Peli cases to ship tools onto oil rigs, so it should be well up to the job. The material is very tough which means it is also brittle, so be careful if you are supporting the box & contents on just a couple of bolts. Also the box itself is quite heavy, & if you want to keep it water tight then seal up the drilled holes ! Quote
eustache Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 The Peli cases look good. It also seems that: All Peli cases are covered by the legendary “You break it, we replace it” lifetime guarantee. So that would be a new challenge when reversing then .... Quote
Blatman Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Peli cases are well tough. All the camera and sound kit we send to... well anywhere (including Iraq/Afghanistan etc), goes in Peli cases. I don't often see a broken one, and I see probably a thousand different ones a year. As previously mentioned though, they're pretty hefty... Quote
tommie Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Peli cases rock. I keep all my camera gear in 2 and have nothing but praise for them. Very fancie way to bring your tooth brush and undies on a run though Quote
