fatbaldbloke Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 We have here my son's June 2000 Peugeot 106 GTI. He bought it last year but has found, as a student, that he can't afford a fun car, food, beer and sex, so the car has to go. We looked long and hard to find one that was completely standard and well looked after, and in the last few days I've checked it over and as well as a damned good clean I've changed the oil and filter, fitted a brand new JVC radio/CD player (old CD player wasn't working), 2 new quality tyres and a new MOT valid until 21st Feb 2009 - spent £300 in total!. It has tax until the end of March. It's a first registered June 2000, 106 GTI manual 5 speed. Dark blue metallic (china blue). 87000 miles. Black leather and suede trim. Power steering, electric mirrors and windows, factory fitted sun roof. Good bits: With the exception of the aftermarket Radio/CD player it's completely factory standard, which is important for insurance and future value. It has a brilliant engine and handles tremendously. The front seats show some wear but well within that you would expect for the age and mileage but no splits, back seats are as new. Bodywork, similarly not concours but solid and good for the year and mileage. Few minor marks but nothing of much note. New tyres, new battery, new MOT, new Radio/CD player. Bad bits: Well only one, and that is the key fob operated alarm is, well... a bit "gallic" in its operation. This is a "they all do that sir" feature, and it works properly 9 times out of 10, and one out of 10 it needs a couple of goes to get it to set or unset properly. If you look on the club website you'll see they all do it after a while. Basically it's a surprisingly quick, fun car, relatively cheap to insure and run, full of personality. We paid a tad under £3k 6 months ago; for a quick sale we'd take £2500, which represents really good value for a 2000 year car - check it out on autotrader where there's not many but they tend to be around the £2750 mark. Located near Bedford, 07811 146957. Thanks for looking.
