Crazy Eddie Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 As funny as the clip is and the clasic comment to make just before spinning I possibly find some of the "name calling" (to sound like a kid in a playground ) a little harsh. I have spun on track and imagine a few others have and so that is fair enough and the comment was funny and Ironic as the title states. But IMHO I couldn't call the guy a T@@T or D*ck H*ad as I don't know him. So it is deffinately funny and the guy may feel like a Pr@t when he watches it back but I would hate to see a video of me spinning on a track and people start going on like, "What a Tw@t he can't drive what a waste of a car etc!" (although in my case is probably true at the moment but we all start somewhere) Anyway I'm up late and can't sleep so wanted to watch the clip again and then read some of the replies that I thought a bit harsh, That's all Be nice and play together! V 8 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Druids @ Oulton...probably the most evil corner there is on a race circuit in damp conditions Had a few 'tankslappers' there meself Yep, bang on Stu, dead easy done, 'specially if you approach the whole corner too early, take the first apex and are still turning when you hit the bump..... bhouse Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Point noted, Eddie but he did seem more intent on chatting and waving his hands around. No instructor has ever suggested to me that waving your right arm around while negotiating the apex of a corner is a good way to keep the car settled... Quote
Bronco Jr Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I do have sympathy with this guy, been there myself. That said I dont have sound on this steam powered computer so could hear what he was saying. Had a major off at croft last year which some would call stupid. Pouring with rain, worn A048's, building up lap speeds and it just got away from me on the esses. Being wet it went for miles ended up in the farmers feild doing a half decent job opf harvesting his crop a little early. Isn't this how we learn? Given the above I say each to his own, provided they're not a danger to others. Should add at this point that there was no one near me on my croft excursion... Just my point of view of course, but perhaps thats makes me a tw@t too... Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Perhaps this experience will mean that he won't be the car coming sideways towards you as you approach that right hander ahead on the next country lane you drive in the wet? Round here the lanes are like the Cresta run or a lab rat's place of work - no way to escape. Quote
yellow perilous Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 The Wirral Westies were at that same track day and Druids was very slippy. Many more cars including an Ultima did exactly the same, sustaining far more damage than the Elise. One of our members late on in the day went off in his Westie, only covered the car in sods and soil - he got a good ribbing from the rest of us, but in reality it could easily have happened to any of us. Druids in the wet in the Autumn after the leaves have fallen is a corner to treat with great respect. Circuit days the organisers said it was one of the worst track days they had organised for damaged cars. Mind you there was still the few idiotic hot hatch drivers there determined to ignore the usual track day rules and spoil it for everyone. Quote
Crazy Eddie Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 warning noted thanks any more Wasn't meant as "warning" just an observation Luckily I haven't driven Oulton in wet (to be honest it takes all my skill to drive it in the dry ) As as mentioned much rather people used the track to see the car's limits than on the road (When a nice shiny new Yellow Yamaha R1 is coming the other way with a handsome blonde guy riding it ) Cheers Eddie PS Anyone else going on the 29th Feb at the end of this month? Looking forward to it Quote
