Guest Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Having bought my shiney new trailer, should i insure? Is this a good quote? Its worth over £2k and an insurance quote came through saying: Dear Mr Meek, Further to your online quotation request for a Trailer, I can confirm a premium of £179.34 inclusive of insurance premium tax and administrative fees of £28.00. I would also like to draw to your attention this quotation also includes a voluntary charitable donation of £2.50. Please note that theft cover is subject to a secure Hitch Lock and Fitted Wheel Clamp on the Trailer. You will be covered for fire & theft, accidental damage and thirt part liability whilst detached from your vehicle. Please find attached the following documentation: * Insurers Key Fact documents & summary of cover * FAQ document * Our Statement of Business Terms for Information Purposes * Statement of Fact for completion should you wish to proceed with the cover I look forward to receiving your advices and ask that you contact me should you have any further queries. Kind Regards Sapna Dattani Towergate Hall And Clarke Quote
Sir Greg Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I couldn't say if it's a good quote or not, but in light of how many trailers get nicked I think I'd bite the bullet and get it covered. Ok it's almost a couple of hundred quid but break it down and it's only about £15 a month................ or £3.50 a week................. or less than 50p per day....... or... ok I'll stop now... scubajess Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Ive had mine insured from the day I bought it but don't pay anything like the premium you've been quoted. I use Stoneways. Here they are Stoneways trailer Insurance Quote

greenandmean Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Stoneways £62-75 for a single axle Woodford Quote
Bananaman Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I had my old trailer isured with Stoneways (think cost was about 5% of traailer value + a few small bits & bobs) The trailer was involved in an accident and they were really good, paid out nearly the value of the trailer getting it repaired with no hasstle. Guest Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 It tows great Baptism of fire today picking up a friend's scirocco - 100 mile trip. Had a bit of a weave at 75, but shouldn't have been doing that speed anyway, so its forgiven. I'm hoping a solid-suspension, low centre of gravity westy will tow even better! Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Had a bit of a weave at 75, but shouldn't have been doing that speed anyway, so its forgiven. Chicken, I can see 90-100mph with the westie on behind the van.... Quote
Guest Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Just wait till i get my westy hitched up.... The VW was swaying all over the place on its 16 year old suspension! What's the fastest any person (nutter?) has ever towed a westy at ? Quote
