How to end up with a small fortune

......race chassis and lightweight body for next winter then :p  :p

Just curious Stephen, what would be the weight difference in those two when compared to the standard chassis and body?

Spent an hour last weekend going through all the receipts for parts and work done on my last two westfields - came to a small fortune!!!!!!  :0

However, that does include a complete rebuild on one after I bent her and two chassis off rebuilds on the current one.

Never seems to end though, just bought a few more shiny bits and got a cam change coming up  :D

Greg,  from searches the suggestions are 10-12kg lighter on the bodywork and 8-10Kg on the chassis - or maybe the other way around???

Quite substantial, but an expensive way to save weight.  The factory prices for lightweight bodywork are the same as road body panels, around £1,300 and I think a chassis is maybe around a grand.

Anyone got any spare race body panels?

That's quite a lump of weight to lose, but at that kind of cost....

I think a serious diet would be my tactic...  :p

Has it been to NMS rollers of truth yet Chris?

Spent all day today fiddling with Troy at NMS.... ???

Two minor issues addressed before starting up, slight repositioning of the crank sensor, and some fiddling with the Meccano set of a throttle linkage.

Once that was done and we had fuel pressure she started pretty well straight away.

Cams run in for 2 hours under load at which point we sucked out the running in oil and put the proper stuff in.

We are (well Troy is) about 60% of the way through the mapping but no full power stuff just yet. We have to wait for Omex to return to work on monday to answer a few questions.

Conclusions so far: Runs far better than old engine ever did, no leaks, no bangs and seeing the Exhaust Manifold glowing orange is something else (although not necessarily a good thing)

Thanks again to Troy, Cooper and the gang for a very professional job....so far.

Fingers crossed, car will be mapped, tracked, MoT'd and Taxed next week :o)

After spending most of last year trying to figure out why fuel was being blown back out of my carbs (turned out to be a faulty camshaft) - I finally got the car running perfectly, I converted to an Aeroscreen and was happy for about.........2 weeks!..........

I then managed to convince myself I NEEDED Fuel injection and throttle bodies! - Car is once again in bits!.....Why O Why?.........Upgadeitus!.........
