j30fos Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Well its all started, the engine got trial fitted today. Thought Id share some pics with you. The westy waiting to be operated on the old engine was a 750cc mistral suzuki engine, I got the car minus the engine. So there was nice hole waiting to be filled ;-) here is the bellhousing and gearbox mated up together here is the turbo im going to use Here is the PWR charge cooler im going to use here it is fitted to the engine. I had to swivel the housing round as it was pointing towards the oil filter and here is todays pic, its getting trial fitted into the engine bay, its a big brute, just fits. Quote
j30fos Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 Contacted Maptun on friday to get some info on what they could do for me, they had loads of ideas, my main problem is keeping the tourque down, I ask them about reaching 300 BHP, and could they help me. there reply was We can put the torque down to the leverl you want, no problem, We need to make a speed signal to the ECU to be able to reduce torque on 1st and 2nd gear. If you cannot make it, there is some other ways so you can reduce torque. 400 Hp is no no problem at all. It is more question how much torque you would like to have. We can play with camchafts to be able to move amximum power up in rpm range. so it looks like there gonna be useful their standard power quotes for 400 bhp is rpm Hp Nm 2000 60 210.6525 2500 100 280.87 3500 210 421.305 4200 252 421.305 5063 306 424.3838633 5750 350 427.4108696 6000 370 433.0079167 6500 400 432.1076923 7000 395 396.2273214 way to many torques (sound like clarkson) lol some pics of the engine in so thats as far as im upto so far Just have to thank Patrik and lasse from sweden who have been a great help, and to Joe for fitting it, cant thank them enough. slippy Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Intresting project mate good work, what diff are you going to be running ? Quote
Leon B Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Looks quite tall, does the bonnet fit? Looks like you're getting on well with the install, good work Quote
j30fos Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 its got the cossie 7.5 LSD unit in there. quite tall, its muuuussive the bonnet is very tight Quote
DutchWestfield Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Here is the PWR charge cooler im going to use Hmmm, very nice and shiny charge cooler. I think it is the same one I used: More details here Where are you going to fit the charge cooler? In front of the engine, or just in front of the scuttle? I might build another Westfield in the future: same engine as in the Libra. Maybe Quote
Boomy Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Nice I remember ages ago, someone asked about different engines for a westfield and at the time i had a 2.3 Saab 900 talladega, so i suggested that would be a cracking engine if it fitted.Good luck with the project Quote
steve_m Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Has anybody got any data on the efficiency of that charge cooler ? Quote
perksy Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Will You be adding any strengtheners to the Rear of the Chassis around the Diff' carrier Quote
bill shurvinton Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 hmm no prizes for guessing where it spools up Provided there is ECu control of the wastegate solenoid you will be fine. They just need to tune boost to come in smoothly with application of right foot. Quote
Torqueman Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Nice to se the engine in place You can always cut down the engine mounts (the towers) if you want to lower the engine a bit. Mine is aprox. 3/4cm lower than yours. What is the ratio of the diff? Quote
j30fos Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 yeah either that or slot the bolt holes, but I've sent you some pics of the sump, man its road hugging mega chop needed. Its the 3:36 ratio, so Im told Quote
Glen H Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Looking Good John Will you need to change / upgrade the Springs (and Possibly shocks) to suit the revised engine weight ? (actually if the handling isn't the best I may be able to keep up ) Whats your target date for completion would be nice if its at Stoneliegh on 3/4th May. Quote
j30fos Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 lol I think your right about the springs look at thi pic I think a big of chop sump is in order or im going snail crushin at least some good news, the bonnet fits phew Quote
