Sir Greg Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 What's the best solution to keep the car covered and dry when towing it on the trailer? Last year I tried a couple of lightweight car covers designed for outdoor use but neither were suitable really. Any suggestions...... what do you use?? Quote
a4gom Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I gave upon it, too much hassle and if your not careful damage to the car. IMO you need at least a frame on the trailor. I have seen fleece lined fitted covers which strap on but tbf there custom made and they aint cheap. If it looks like its going to rain I just fit the tonneau. Quote
Sir Greg Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 A covered trailer would be the answer but it's not worth the investment for just a few track days etc (for me anyway). I've towed without a cover but twice the car has been drenched. Seats are Westfield padded race versions and they take a ****** age to get dry again. Quote
yellow perilous Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Fit a good tonneau cover to keep the wet out of the cockpit. Covers just leave scuffs on the bodywork. Quote
Andy @ Cat Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hi Greg, I drilled some holes on the floor and fit water proof seat covers. Quote

Yeah, mine got soaked once and took days to dry out. Have thought about changing them for lighter non padded versions, not essential like Quote
Sir Greg Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys. As I can't afford new non padded seats at the moment (the winter upgrade budget is well and trully spent... ) I think I'll go down the road of some waterproof seat covers and a good blast of WD40 to the dash electrics.. salexander Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Greg, one one the class A6 sprint guys, Steven Murray, has a covered trailer that was converted from a standard open one. It's a simple steel framework bolted to the trailer with a waterproof canvas fitted cover. The framework is easy to do and the cover only cost about £200 from a supplier in the North of Scotland somewhere. I've got some photos of it if interested. Quote
funbobby Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Last time we towed I used the cover off an old gazebo - worked a treat and wasnt fastened down on the car but onto the trailer itself. Quote
JeffC Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 you could always move from Scotland that would help Quote
