pete g Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 swiss you need to make sure that when you run out of pedel travel [with your clutch pedal] that there is still some more clearance at the bellhousing end .and you are not trying to pull the end off your cable..the only way around this is a different lenght inner /outer cable. [normal one is the capri 1.6 cable 1057 number i think from memory.or grind out the hole in the bellhousing to give more clearance.or use a different clutch arm with correct throw[or modifly your own]and last maybe put a spacer or longer/shorter release bearing. plus cheap clutch cables can break very quick if you have a clearance problem. i know i got through about 3 in one week. was cheaper to sort out the problem. in my case was to change from the 1.8 cvh arm to the 1.6 arm. [lay them side by side to would notice a difference] but in operation gave just enough more clearance to stop the cables from keep breaking. hope this makes sense regards pete Quote
SwissWesty Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 Hi Pete, thanks for your advice. On my car it's not really a clearance problem (there is a albeit small gap between the bell housing cutout and the arm at the end of pedal travel) but rather a problem concerning the angle clutch cable - clutch arm. The best solution would be to have the arm positioned further away from the clutch assembly. But for this i would need a "longer" release bearing then my actually one or a spacer to give more space between arm and clutch. Therefore my question about spacers. In any case i will try the capri cable you mentioned, cos for my car the original Westfield one is a little short (my car is LHD), i saw some cables at Burtons online shop. Cheers Robert Quote
