M11 BRD Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Dropped into Carbon Mods on Saturday, picked up my Rear carbon wing protectors Yet to fit them on but they look Had a good look around and a chat, very informative and interesting, even my wife was paying attention Lots more WF stuff to come by the sounds of it Quote
RichP Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Any one else had problems with the bathroom sealant fitting approach? I've stuck the stoneguards on with it, and also the sill protectors. The sill protectors have come off, and it seems that the sealant won't "go off" unless air can get to it. So whilst they're stuck ok right at the edges, the sealant under the majority of the parts is still wet. Same for the arch protectors - if you press the middle of one of them you can hear it's still wet there as well. I'll have to re-stick the sill protectors with sikaflex or something, but am now worried that the arch protectors will come off soon as well. Any thoughts? I stuck them on over a week ago so I'm not being impatient with the sealant I don't think. Cheers Rich Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Sika is "air " dried too , whichever you use dont assemble the parts right after applying the adhesive , give it a minute or two . Normally 24 hours or so before its cured . The sealant will harden anyway regardless of assembly time but takes longer , needs some patience Quote
higgsti Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 i use 2mm double sided tape bought from double glazing supplies place i use as well as silicon Quote

Cheers Rich Mine have been stuck on with bathroom sealant for 5 weeks now with no sign of movement, after all there is no weight to them so I am pretty sure they are not going to come off untill I want to remove them. My sill protectors are a little bit to narrow and want to rise up so I have had to velcro them on. Quote
judder Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 OK, im confused !. I got my email from CM today and the figures don't add up. I'm getting Cycle wings as well which complicates things. Don't want to post up details of my invoice, but I can tell you it's a bit of a mess. Did you guys end up payiing £119 ? or £119 + vat ? Stephen Quote
judder Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 yes I read that, but in a later post they said the price quoted did not include vat, but they would take the hit for it. Anyway I now have it balancing out. Their system of invoicing with the discount added but not shown took a while to work out. For a dumbass like me Stephen Quote
CarbonMods Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Hi Judder, It takes us a bit of working out to! For simplicity (and to keep track of things for accounting) the order goes through our main system. We have to discount the sill guards completely, work out a new price for the stone chip guards ex VAT that makes them £119 including VAT and then addititionally discount our standard shipping rate too. For most postal areas the total becomes £128.40 (so you're paying just under a tenner for UPS delivery). Hope it made sense in the end! Matt Quote

PeP Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Any progress on the Arch protectors for Extra Wide detachables?...........Please. Blame me if you want, I was supposed to be taking my car in for moulds to be taken but have been busy and forgot. If the guys want it this next week they can have it. Quote
CarbonMods Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 We took the moulds off the extra-wide detachable arches last Friday. They're now a work in progress and should be polished up, sealed and ready to get some guards off in the next few days. Will be in touch with those on the extra wide list in the next few days, as soon as they're good to do. Quote
