Richard M Green Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Having competed in the Westfield Speed Series for seven seasons, the 'Green/Dean Racing' Westfield is finally up for sale: Engine Rover K Series 1600 Scholar Evo II block (fixed thicker liners) Omega forged pistons Arrow Precision Steel Rods ARP Rod bolts Piper 740 cams with vernier pulleys Solid (i.e. non hydraulic) cam followers Cylinder head modified to Dave Andrews’ spec with REC big valves Colisbro valve guides Emerald M3DK Engine Management EU3 head (coil on plug i.e. distributorless type) Jenvey Direct To Head Throttle Bodies Pace Dry Sump system (2 scavenge, 1 pressure stage) inc Pace cast sump Powerspeed Stainless Steel bespoke exhaust Magnetron geared starter motor Lightened Alternator Silicon coolant pipes and Polo radiator All rotating/reciprocating parts balanced by Steve Smith at Vibration Free The engine was built under the watchful eye of Dave Andrews and subsequently mapped by Dave Walker, and is producing >185bhp and cheerfully revs to 8500. It is SVA’d and fully road legal, on a 1975 ‘N’ suffix plate. As you can see from the spec, there is little that could be done to take the car further in terms of technical spec; it really does have all the toys... and weighs around 500kg. The car has done about 4,000 miles in its life - of that approximately 2,500 with the K Series installed. In 2006 I had class wins at LLys Y Fran and at Longleat, with a 2nd at Abingdon – it is a very capable car. The car is wired for, but not with, a Race Technology Data Logger. The car has probably cost me > £25,000 from the start: the engine alone cost somewhere in the region of £8000 to build, and that spec from Minister would be £12,000+. Obviously I’m realistic and not expecting to recover anywhere near that amount, so a decent offer around £9,000 will be acceptable…. …why am I selling it? I’m now racing in the 750 Motor Club Locost championship, hence I only did two speed events in 2007, and I’m looking at another new project, so need some space….. The car is located in north west Hampshire. Photos can be provided to anyone expressing serious interest.
SteveC Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I can vouch for this as a top car, very competative in the right hands, (I did let Richard beat me at the abingdon event - well it is his car and he was kind enough to let me double drive) Goes like a train, very well put together with lots of attention to details, an absolute joy to thrash round a track either for track days or competetive sprints. This will make a great car for someone, lot of car for your money. sad to see you selling it Richard, but hey new plans eh... Steve
Mark Stanton Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Gotta say it's a very well engineered car and quick
