Black Busa Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 As title, Good or bad idea to buy one for crimbo? Thanks Quote
Asterix Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Green font not good...have gone blind. Re, cam...does it have an external mic input...if not, sound will be "difficult" if placed in windstream. I went RF concepts camera pack 5 early this year...recommended Quote
peterg Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Tisn't the green print that's made you go blind Quote

SparkyB Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I bought mine a month or 2 ago and for the price I'm very happy with it. Video quality is pretty good (doesn't handle light/dark transitions well though) but the sound is dire (mine is fitted on the RAC rollbar diagonal bar behind a full screen). The memory cards are good and cheap too (£10 for 2gb ie 2 hours recording) Quote
FW500 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 ... so can it have an external mic (I've ordered 2 of these too) Quote
SparkyB Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Nope They have made it a sealed unit so that it can be used underwater, but that means no external inputs. Quote
Liam Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Bought my lad one for B'day. For less than £100 it is good. Used it on Lemans trip with decent results and he straps it to his helmet ( so he tells me ) when downhilling, with good results. Sound only seems to record four letter words, sounds of bodies hitting trees/ground, louder four letter words and groans Quote

fordy Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Ive got one - ran it on a few sprints this year - as already mentioned, sound is dire - but picture is pretty good, frame rate is fine, etc. Mines fitted on the rac bar -found that is wasnt quite wide angle enough - so i can set it in a position where i see both front wheels, AND the steering wheel. Other thing i found with it, is unless you take a laptop with you, or a TV - there is no way of watching anything whilst your at an event. I kept forgetting to turn it off after each sprint, and hence the card ran out quickly - no way of re-winding,etc - only option is to delete the last video in its entirety. Other than that - waterproofness is fine, proven in this years fine weather!!!!! Quick release bracket it comes with is good. Price is good (got mine from ebay US - paid 50 quid for it ($99), and then just had to pay a small import charge - all in, inc delivery, import, was 80 quid - cheaper than anywhere i found in the UK.
