Anyone know if you can still get an E marked 3 point safety harness, every one seems to have gone 4 point.

Only one i can see in D.T. has snap hook fittings all round and I have not got room down the side of the seat in a narrow bodied for anything but bolt fixing. :(

I've got 4 points in mine, and have got them clipped onto the single 3 point eye bolt.

I have passed two MOT's and scrutineering at Curborough once with this set up.

Sparco look to do a 3 point with bolt through fitting "3 point driver" or do you mean a lap and diagonal ?

I would recomend going to 4 point though, you are a) safer and b) held in the seat much better. But when you adjust it make sure the lap belts are really holding you down into the seat before you tighten the chest belts. A lot of people seem to get this wrong and you can "submarine" if it's not right. Not a good place to go, I have a friend who broke his back doing that. OK now though.

I have a willans 3 point harness - think they still make them  ;)

Nick, it is a 3 point harness not lap and diagonal, Sparco 3 point driver not Westfield specific.

Mark, Demon Thieves and Grand Prix Racewear only do 4 point Willans now.

May have to do as Martin suggests!  I have Luke harness at the moment which has been very good although it has 2 inch straps they both have inbuilt spreaders unlike the present range of harnesses which only seem to have spreaders on the lap straps.

Problem is that t*** of a scrutineer at Croft who seems to pull something new every year, this year gave me grief about no E marks on harnesses amongst other things.  To go 4 point means welding on additional mounting points (maybe not a big job to those of you that can weld but another hassle for those of us that can't) also  means moving and repositioning rear wiring loom, altering rear carbon fibre panels ( over what was boot box) which seems a lot of work for something that has not been a problem to any other scrutineer all season.  Maybe the answer is to withdraw my entry for Croft but seems a shame to miss a local round of S.S. just because the scrutineer is an  :arse:

The scrutineers in the South West have pulled us this year for using 4 point harnesses in the 3 point mountings. It may be worth checking with your chaps locally. Just to make you aware...  ;)

Be very careful about using 4 point harnesses "doubled up" into a 3 point fixing  :( there are a few scrutes who won't like it    ;) and you could get grief with it  ;)

I know who you mean and generally he is OK, but every year he has a specific topic that he picks on. To be fair this is noramlly because it has been a problem the year before and they have been told to look out for it.

Reading the blue book, it' looks like your harness could be called into question, so might be best to bite the bullet and get it done. Don't forget you should be safer, so it's money well spent :D

You are probably right Nick, so it looks like bullet biting time.Would I be right in the assumption that strictly speaking an FIA harness is not road legal so whilst fitting 4 point do I go E marked or fit the better FIA approved and risk it with the MOT tester. :durr:

Isn't it that for MOT it needs to be released by one hand ???? or something like that ???

Have you tried e-bay for some 3 point e marked harnesses ???

Have you spoken to Demon Tweeks? They have a lot of 3 point harnesses with "bolt in" in the title, it may be possible they have used the clip in picture the bolt in one?

My fairly old Willans 4 point 3" belt has bolt down ends all round.

Don't try the dealers or agents go direct to the manufacturer,  Willans is a fairly small company give them a call and explain your problem they may be able to help.  I know in the past they have shortened straps and moved buckles for people, they may be willing to manufacture what you need or adapt one of their standard belts.

TRS also used to manufacture custom spec belts. Give them a call

Thanks Martin, Willans do still make the 3 point and are getting one up to Larkspeed in Leeds for me, may not be as good as 4 point but I have had no issues with the present 3 point in the last 3 seasons of S.S. so in the time old fashion if it ain't broke -----------.
