Engine was new 2 years ago (not a rebuilt unit) and since then has run half season in UK and most of the season this year in BARC spec with fitted restrictor, so fairly unstressed. Little additional testing has been done so the engine is in good shape. Gearbox was rebuilt at around the same time the new engine was fitted, as was a new fuel tank and this should be ok through to 2010. The rear wing lower element has just been replaced for a new item, so another durability issue not to worry about, so to has the clutch (only done 1 race since fitting). The car has been maintained regardless of cost and has not been involved in any heavy accidents, The suspension is straight and in excellent condition. This is a proven race winning car in either UK or BARC spec, with full history available from Scorpio Motorsport who ran the car in the UK series and have helped with maintenance during the BARC series. Its not a commercial vehicle carbon fibre monocoque as far as I know there is only one design of current UK spec car (other than the club class cars which are older and are aluminium honeycombe) £22,900 then. Its being sold through the business, so if another VAT registered person were to buy it it would be £19,5k if that makes any sense! John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I meant what brand of chassis? Reynard, Pilbeam, Dallara etc. With regard to the VAT, no it doesnt make sense Sounds dodgy asking VAT for a second hand race car. Westfield wouldnt charge it on any of their used cars
SteveC Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 built by Tattus - I think they have done all Renaults single seater championship cars, might be wrong though! nothing dodgy, bought through the race team business, so needs to be sold with VAT, unless bought by another business, in which case its less VAT!

As I understand it, if the previous owners are VAT registered and have claimed VAT back on the original purchase and running costs, they are obliged to charge the VAT content on the sale, nothing dodgy I would'nt have thought.... Now as a VAT registered company, Im very tempted...

JeffC Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 dear santa Ive been good this year oh and on the vat thing and Im no expert other than Ive been sat in front of them getting grilled in the past but most of the cars I sell are vat inclusive, ie the vat is built into the selling price but unless you hire them out or are another car dealer I dont think you can reclaim it but I would guess if another vat registered business bought this race car as say " advertising " just splatter with it with your business details , you may be able to reclaim the vat on the purchase price and put the car through as a business expense
