ChrisG Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I assume from the diff ratio yours is IRS, but if its a live axle Id only go with 205s on a 7" rim on the rear because the lack of camber of the live axle means the tyre rolls over onto its edge a bit more than it would with an IRS setup, but a wider rim keeps the tyre more stable and less susceptable to that issue. Crazy Eddie Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 Cheers Chris, Yes It is IRS (I think ) but I think that what I will do for now is buy 4 lots of the 185's and then when funds permit i can look at buying wider rear rims with the 205's on and use them for track days. Sounds good?? Quote
gixermark Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 sounds like a good plan... i did try the 205's for the last race i did, definately made a big difference, with the 185s on the rear i was topping out early, with the 205s i didn't even get near the limiter.... I can't say i noticed a massive difference in handling - although i did lock up the fronts more - put this down to the rear being slightly higher - putting more weight on the front.. adjusted rear ride height and the problem was sorted.. i will be trying the 205 vs 185 back to back early next season on a track test session.. handy as i have spare rims so a 2 min job to swap them out... mark.
