Sir Greg Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 For all you hillclimb fans..... this is Simone Faggioli taking on the very scary Trento - Bondone hillclimb in Northern Italy. We took a couple of guys from EVO mag over as we were looking for some nice PR stories for the UK market. (I work for Marangoni Tyre & Simone has won various Italian and European titles using our tyres). They've kindly repaid the favour by putting this vid on their website. Faggioli - Trento Quote
slippy Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Nice vid would love to see some telemetry for it Wish the SS hills were that long Quote
Sir Greg Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 I'm sure I heard someone say it was around 19km! Simone reckons he's memorised the course....... Quote
scott beeland Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 f**k the Top Gear test track.....I wanna go and do that hill Quote
rob iles Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Getting dizzy watching that Its a bit like having Fish Hill on loop 20 or 30 times Quote
Guest Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Brilliant. No better case for a sequential paddle shift box! Quote
lespaul Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Brill, it's more like the I.O.M TT course (vut with better weather) than a hill climb Darren Quote
a4gom Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Only got one thing to say to that Carlsberg don't organise hillclimbs but if they did it would probably be something like this!! 2 practice and 3 timed runs = 200 Euros QUOTE I'm sure I heard someone say it was around 19km! Simone reckons he's memorised the course....... I don't know about memorised I was mesmerised. There are cars in our paddock which would need an engine rebuild after that and others which would need a pit stop for more fuel I wouldn’t fancy doing that after a night in Thoresby Hall or the party tent, guaranteed carrots in your visor. P.s. its 17.3km, well it says so on your own website. It also says the hill climbs 1350m, how do you set your fuel mixture for that. Quote
Bananaman Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I didn't see any petrol stations on the way up, i'd have to take a jerry can with me......10mins on full chat from 10L Quote
Sir Greg Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 P.s. its 17.3km, well it says so on your own website. Yes I knew that of course...... I actually helped write the flippin thing! We're just putting the finishing touches to a VERY realistic PC simulator of this very car on the complete climb. I've had a go on the test versions and like I said it is very realistic and covers the whole climb. I'm not sure if PC is the only format but I'll find out. (You'll definitely require steering wheel and pedals though) For anyone interested in driving this climb as many times as you want, please drop me an email to g.graham at marangoni.com (replace at with @) and I'll try to send you a copy when it's ready. Cheers, Greg Quote
M11 BRD Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 That is absolutelty stunning, as you say that's a real Hillclimb and worth the £80 - £90 entry fee.................. Any one know any quiet sunday 10 mile stretches of road we can close for the 2008 WSCC main event, either that or each competitor get's 50 laps per run at Curborough, which will be altered by Tarmacing the molehill to consitute a hillclimb. Some try that anyway on a regular basis No names mentioned Quote
Doug D. Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 A mate of mine has just done the St Goueno hillclimb in Brittany which is one of the shortest hills in France, He was doing it in 1min 45secs in his westy, no vid of him yet but he beat which was on slicks Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Top footage Greg and a excellent drive the guy was as neat as bed made by a nurse and as smooth as a freshly shaved nunney!! what a hill climb! 10mins 11secs. I'd need to re fuel half way up. Now if hillclimbs in the uk were that long and the same price as they are now that would be top value. He must have crossed 3 countries! Well I think after Le-Mans next year its a trip to Italy ...u coming Scott!! Buzz Well found Greg Quote
stewart pickles Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Brilliant hill but you must be totally exhausted both mentally and physically by the time you finish. Just imagine getting almost to the top and the marshals put out the red flags and say “sorry mate, someone spun on the last corner. You’ve got a rerun. Sorry Andy on Andy's PC loged on as Stew Quote
Lurksalot Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 the yellow flag didn't slow him down so a red may only knock a second or two of his time Quote
