Norman Verona Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 UK insurer insists on a UK MOT so it's off to Dover before it gets too cold. Anyone know of a friendly MOT station near Dover. Plan is to cross by 11am Speed Ferries and return on 3pm boat. Quote

Norman Verona Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 Because I can't get a French registration without the equivilant of an SVA. As it would never pass that I have to keep it on UK plates for now. French insurers are "leaned on" not to insure non-French registered vehicles. When the French are made to comply with the European Directive they signed then I can exchange registration documents without hassle. Quote
alex205 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Depends on how far you are prepared to travel I have mine done in Maidstone which is about an hour from Dover, they are very thorough which I like. Is this to far as by the looks of it you will not have much time in Kent? Garage is Granville Garage 01622 761571 Quote
Norman Verona Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 Thanks Alex. I have a customer in Maidstone who does MOT's, but, as you say, I'll be cutting it fine getting there and back. Quote
Norman Verona Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Does nobody live near Dover? Quote
peterg Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 QUOTE Does nobody live near Dover Probably Norm, but they're not all on the Boardroom (or BC come to that 24/7 like you and me Do you want a heads up put on BC? Quote
Norman Verona Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Pete, thanks but no. I can do that myself if I wanted. last year I got a reccomendation from an ex BC'er who saw my post on BC and sent an email. I did appreciate his info but the MOT station was a nightmare. We arrived 10 minutes late (due to ferry) and he didn't want to do the test. He then complained about everything until he found a reason to fail. (genuine failure but it costs nothing to be nice and smile) Looks like I'll have to go back there. Quote
