sgilks Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I'm upgrading my 2.3 Duratec at the end of this year from its current 270/280bhp 2261cc (std bore/stroke) and so there is a list of parts available which would be ideal for anyone wanting to upgrade their standard 2.3 Duratec... 2.3 cylinder head fitted with +1/+1 valves, CNC ported (flows more than Cosworth's Atlantic head) optionally available with: special grind of cams (similar to Cosworth's 260bhp grind but with more lift) vernier pulleys highlift springs and h/d lightweight retainers Matched manifold with 52mm Jenvey TBs, 72mm trumpets, pico 630cc injectors, jenvey linkage, dished backplate and filter 12.5:1 pistons fitted to Eagle forged rods w ARP bolts The engine achieved 200lb/ft and 280bhp on Prodrive's engine dyno and 270bhp at Northampton Motorsport in Troy's capable hands. After running in and rolling roading the engine has done less than 1000 miles. Dyno sheets / head flow sheets etc all available. Suggested exhaust spec, DTA map and any other advice included as required. It makes most sense as a complete package but I can re-use the cams/verniers/springs/retainers/rods and intake system if someone just wanted the head with valves & pistons/rods. Pricing depends on what parts you want - I'm looking to recover some of the costs to part fund the next engine which is now spec'd. Interested - email sgilks@netapp.com or ring 07801 028138. Parts will not be available before Dec 15th as the last event of the season is the week before! This has been used in a stage rally car with 100% reliability - its fairly quick with 900Kgs of car so should be ballistic in a 500-600Kg westfield! Stuart
sgilks Posted October 11, 2007 Author Posted October 11, 2007 (I should also have pointed out that the cylinder head would be equally applicable to a 2.0 duratec). It depends but here are some options... Starting with the smallest package which would be cylinder heads with valves £1200 although I'd give a good discount for p/x of a std focus head which I need for the next project. The whole top-end (IE above + springs, retainers, cams+verniers, shims & buckets) £1900 - again less for an exchange focus head with new/vgc buckets. Rods and pistons would be £500 - I'd include a new ring pack in that. Manifold, TBs, filter+backplate, injectors, linkage & trumpets - £750 but currently not sure if the replacement inlet system is going to be ready so may not be for sale but could provide the spec to replicate it if needed... For a 2.3 it doesn't really make sense to buy the head and not the pistons+rods (valve clearance + rod/piston strength) and if you have a DTA or can use the map then buying the inlet system you can probably save a £400-500 rolling road session. Of course I'll round down if someone wants the lot in one hit. Stuart
