Guest Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Apparently this game is one of the most realistic ever. Well... i just built a 580bhp Golf, and broke a lap record. Clearly not realistic at all ! As Clarkson demonstrated, it wouldn't even go around a corner! To be fair, i spent half the lap on the edges of the track, completely sideways, wheels spinning. I've never seen even a rally driver go this fast. Fun... but utterly, utterly, unrealistic. Quote
Charles King Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 rFactor is the best sim I've found so far. Best game on the 360 is Test Drive Unlimited. Quote
Asterix Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 All games are unrealistic, period. Some games are less unrealistic than others. Still fun though (and better than watching tv). Quote
Pilot Pete Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 GTR I found was pretty realistic, I used its braking points and lines at the real donnington and it seemed to work. Had a bit in reserve mind, dont have that reset button in real life. Quote
darthurs Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Seconded comments about GTR, GTR2 and RACE Dan Quote
Boney Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Owdo, seem to remember game on pc GP legends was very realistic, or was that just an excuse as used to crash a lot Boney Quote
Guest Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I've ordered test drive unlimited and a force feedback steering wheel, lets see if that does the trick!! ( I just had my a** kicked on xbox live by a 10 year old who doesn't know how to drive ) Quote
Charles King Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Like asterix said, there aren't really any realistic games. The best games are definitely on the PC (rFactor, GTR, GTL, GTR 2), along with the best equipment (Logitech G25 is a very good piece of kit). There isn't anything even close to realistic on the 360, just fun. If you've bought the genuine 360 wheel I think you need to buy an add on over live to get it to work properly with TDU (Hardcore mode, I think) Quote
The Great Fandango Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Have you guys seen the screen shots of the forthcoming Gran Turismo game on the PS3?!?!? ABSOLUTELY STONKING! I might have to buy a PS3 just for the one game! I'm off the mind that several of the games/sims out there are pretty realistic at giving you a feel for the different cars, power-outputs etc. Fact is it's not real, but you've got to give a pat on the back to some of the programmers for what they can achieve. darthurs Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I wouldn't mind seeing the McLaren F1 simulator. Wonder how real that is, and also what the software is based on? Dan Quote
a4gom Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Press X and O together to rip door of hinges, UP and [] to Throw helmet across the room UP, Down, select and X to tell all the staff what a bunch of deletive they are [], L1 and R1 to select stanley knife and carve your initials in team mates rear tyre Quote
darthurs Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 QUOTE Mclaren have invested heavily in their F1 simulator So it's a PS3 then Dan Quote
neilwillis Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Forza 2 is in my opinion pretty good. You're right, if you want to drive for real, drive for real! Personally, I'm in the middle of shooting my way to saving planet earth in Halo 3 - which in my opinion is totally realistic. Last time I saved the earth for real, ity was just like that - though the aliens were much uglier - or am I getting aliens mixed up with you lot at Stoneleigh in May Let's face it they're computer games, not simulations. A bit of fun, and yes, you can learn circuits. I want to get a PS3 purely for the F1 game which simply isn't available for the XBox. And yes, I have the force feedback steering wheel - and I can thrash Sedsy at the driving games, so they must be very realistic! Quote

I've never seen even a rally driver go this fast. Fun... but utterly, utterly, unrealistic. To be fair, the Top Gear version was a concept car - not exactly fully developed, and to quote Mr Clarkson - the steering and suspension are not finished yet. Add to that, the car was rear wheel drive, instead of the usual Golf front wheel package, and I'm afraid you're talking scrotally! Or are you saying the concept Golf is fun but utterly utterly unrealistic? Quote
Major Stare Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Best game on the 360 is Test Drive Unlimited. What, the handling and steering are just soo unrealistic. Best game out there is Crackdown Quote
