jt71 Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 My ZX9R engined Westy is not great at starting if it's been left for a few days. It normally starts eventually after many attempts of turning it over, then leaving it for a bit and trying again, however this normally takes half an hour or so, and means an auxillary battery / jump leads every time. Are there any obvious reasons behind this? How can I improve the reliability of it starting? Cheers! Quote
Crazy Eddie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Bit of info about car would help tetermine cause. However, as far as starting is concerned, have you got a good spark? Has it been serviced recently? If not new plugs could help. Fuel, is it getting a good fuel supply? What is it doing ie turning over but not firing or turning over too slowly to fire? Do you have a choke on the car and if so are you using it to start? As far as having to leave it a while and then start again sounds like it could be flooding. So what exactly is it doing and what have you checked so far. Also haven't you only just bought this? Therefor does the previous owner have any advice etc? Cheers Eddie PS John with turbo blade is down by you isn't he? He may have advice / contacts that could help. Quote
