music downloads

wanting to get a load o music  for ipod rather than coughing up on Itunes can anyone recomend any sites to download music free or is there such a thing as free downloads  

I googled for one of the songs I was after earlier registered for a site ez or something or other got bombarded with adverts for all sorts   and in the end it directed me to I Itunes  so it wasnt free anyway

are all these tye of sites safe and do they share whats on your computer ? on my last computer I had bareshare or something like that and Im sure thats what made it slow all the time  and I got constant pop ups

no popups wth sf, though the upload traffic is present even when idle (i.e, it's trustworthy but higher than normal)

bittorrent is pretty good, if you quit it will actually quit, its open source so not full of ads etc etc.  You can set throttles for it, but I just leave it on overnight then quit it in the morning.

Aye torrents are pretty safe in general, the BitTorrent client has no adds and is easy to use too.  The sites scruffy gave are good for getting torrents and there is another I use:  www.Torrentz.com, thought I can't say I've ever really used it for music downloads.

and subscribe to the private "tracker" site of http://torrentsforall.net/ for 1meg /s high speed downloads.

with Azureus bit torrent client for downloading...

I dont do much downloading now but if I want a tune I use altavista mp3 search lol, a bit of searching often finds the tune your after.

Apart from that, a pally at work uses http://www.frostwire.com/

Sais its really good, I've never tried it though.

been on mp3 download and thats good, installed it on the kids computer too and thats no full of Mc someone or other and 50 cent

can someone tell if if my computer suddenly going so slow is connected with me having the music download sites on the computer,  

its taking an age to open a page on wscc    

Ive checked on the page and nothing is getting uploaded or downloaded
